1st T20 INDIA v ENGLAND: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Friday’s 1st T20 between INDIA v ENGLAND with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
After a thrilling Test series we move to the T20 format of the game as we start a five match series! You might say that the players won’t have to change their style of play much after all the wickets and crazy shots we saw in the Test series, but we’re bound to see some excellent high quality action. India are World T20 kings with all their IPL experience, but England have an excellent young side full of power hitters. It will be fascinating to see who comes out on top. It will also be excellent experience for some young England players to see how they get on in Indian conditions. No doubt all the IPL teams will be watching.
While we kick off the T20 series on Friday, we can look forward to next week as you can get 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange from Tuesday 16th March to Saturday 20th! This series should be excellent for trading and it’s an excellent offer.
We stay in the World’s biggest cricket stadium for the first T20 and indeed we stay here for the whole series. It was very difficult to bat in the Test matches here and the scores were very low. Hopefully the batting conditions are better because we want to see fours and sixes in T20. A tricky pitch might suit India though and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have asked the groundsmen to prepare a dry surface. England’s T20 bowling isn’t the best and they rely a lot on their power hitting. India landed a T20 series in Australia already this year and they will be very tough to beat in their own conditions – we should have an excellent series ahead!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As I noted prior to the Test matches here, there has been such a gap between matches here with the stadium being updated that the old scores are irrelevant now. England didn’t fair too well here in the two Tests, scoring 112 and 81 in the third Test and then 205 and 135 in the fourth Test. They would take 205, but I can’t see them being happy with any other score! I expect a change in wicket here and hopefully we get better batting conditions. I feel this is a game to go into with an open mind on conditions and see how the pitch plays rather than expect anything before the off. It’s a completely new ground after all the changes after all.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I would expect an excellent series with plenty of twists and turns, however I do like India at 1.7 here. I know we are changing format and England have a stronger side on paper in T20 cricket, but India really enjoyed conditions here for the Test series and they keep a lot the side like Rishabh Pant who played an excellent innings in the fourth Test. England have some new faces and they will have to adjust to conditions quickly. India have been very impressive in T20 cricket with a series win in Australia and I would have them shorter than 1.7 at this ground. I’m happy to keep stakes low at the start of the series, and perhaps increase them when we see how the dynamic between the sides goes during the series.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With all five T20’s at this ground, we should have a lot of in-running plans throughout the series. For the first game I think it’s wise to go into the game with an open mind. There will be plenty of great opportunities to come, and don’t forget it’s 0% commission on BETDAQ for Cheltenham next week too. I’d be very keen to get a read on the wicket here before doing anything, and we’ll just have to wait and see what the pitch plays like in the opening overs.
India were well on top in the Test series, and if the pitch is similar I would expect them to handle it much better. While I do like this England T20 side, I’m not a fan of their bowling. They always tend to concede too many and then get out of trouble with their batting. I would be keen to be against them when they are bowling, and that should suit as India will be more confident with the bat in the conditions.
