DAQMAN KNOCKS IMPERIAL CUP FAVOURITE OUT OF THE FRAME: Daqman’s new Lays Logic, which knocks the favourites, was launched with a ‘winner’ at Sandown yesterday in the Imperial Cup, a 2-1 highly-hyped favourite failed to reach the frame, despite a much-reduced field after heavy rain.

BETDAQ PUTS ICING ON THE CAKE AT THE CHELTENHAM PARTY: More about Lays Logic, and more about value betting tomorrow on the eve of the festival, the greatest Jumps-racing show on earth, special this year with CHELTENHAM 0% COMMISSION ON BETDAQ for all races.

FIRST-DAY SHOCK: It’s the smallest field for the Supreme EVER. Just eight final declarations were made earlier today with six lining up for the Arkle. More reaction tomorrow.

HISTORY-MAKING 16 IN A ROW

It’s not always about ‘getting’ the favourite. But the ultimate is finding a race in which a losing hyped or short-priced horse ‘wins’ twice for you. Lay him to lose and pick the winner at value odds on BETDAQ for a double whammy!

That’s why I launched Lays Logic this week, with a choice of races day by day for the Cheltenham Festival most conducive to picking lays (see the Daqman Archive, Tuesday to Friday).

There are horses at every meeting which are too short for what they’ve done, or are running on ‘potential’, and are overbet.

The test lay for the comeback yesterday, Natural History in the Imperial Cup, was an inexperienced horse clobbered 16lb by the handicapper for scoring at Plumpton in a five-horse affair, which his own (out of form) trainer described as ‘a terrible race.’

But tension for this lays relaunch built up like a flight to Mars. We could have landed in the dirt, if you know what I mean!

A huge chunk of the field dropped out early doors, leaving Natural History a much easier task but his performance in no way matched the hype, and he was sixth at 2-1 favourite.

My best Cheltenham run of lays was SIXTEEN successful in a row, a mix of favourites and horses overbet, an undefeated run over three consecutive seasons of Cheltenham (see Daqman Library). They were all losers but there were no losing bets!

IT’S THE ROCKY ORR SHOW

⭕ 2.30 Naas (Leinster National) Just one successful favourite in the decade but most winners (8 out of the 10) were 9-2 to 12-1 at SP and seven out of the last nine were aged eight or nine. Only one carried more than 11st.

The money with the bookies early doors was for Fitzhenry, Dounikos and Ten Ten, presumably Mark Walsh’s pick of the J P McManus sextet and 7.0 BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE favourite this morning in a very open trading market.

Fitzhenry and Dounikos have run some big races in the past but have to bounce back. Dounikos showed a bit more sparkle in first-time cheekpieces the last day but is 10 now.

Castle Oliver (another McManus) was favourite for this a year ago after completing a hat-trick over shorter and I took 17.0.

It wasn’t the trip but his jumping let him down (fresh for first run back) when trying the Punchestown Grand National Trial on his return last month.

Rocky’s Silver, an 11.5 offer, won the Amateur National at Punchestown last season, and was second in the Cork National in November.

The only other runner this week when Rocky’s trainer, James Dullea, booked jockey Conor Orr was a 10-lengths winner at Thurles.

MILLSY TOO HOT FOR FROID

⭕ 3.05 Naas Robbie Power and Dermot McLoughlin, who trains just the other side of Dublin, are 2-2 when they team up here.

Delvino won over the Naas CD in December, and second, third and fourth were scorers before or after, despite her easy win.

She’s been found out stepping up in trip but could bounce back at 12.0 on BETDAQ in another open contest, in which the first three in the market were covered by only a point this morning.

⭕ 4.15 Warwick While Ballymillsy has been strong in the morning markets, everything else has been easy to back, with the exception of J’Ai Froid, whose form figures are a lure.

A visor has brought Froid in from the cold but his hat-trick has cost him a 24lb rise, and his front-running style should set up ‘Millsy’, whose stable took some notable scalps when Beauport ran clear in the NH Novices Handicap Hurdle Final at Sandown yesterday.

At only five years old, Ballymillsy is in the Twiston-Davies mould of developing stayer. A nap selection at 3.35 on BETDAQ.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
