WEEK AHEAD: One of the biggest weeks in sport is finally upon us, headlined by the Cheltenham Festival and European football.
With four-days of racing from the Cheltenham Festival, Champions League action, and the final day of the Six Nations it’s the week that has it all.
The next seven days get underway on Monday with Wolves hosting an out of sorts Liverpool in the Premier League. Can the Reds build on their midweek victory in the Champions League and gain some much needed momentum in the league?
Tuesday is where the action really starts with Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival, there will be 28 races across the week littered with Grade 1s and each day will be live on ITV from 13:00. Between races you can catch the action from India as they play host to England in the third T20 of the five-match series on Sky Sports. Later in the evening there’s two fixtures from the Champions League as Real Madrid play Atalanta and Manchester City face Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second leg of the round of 16.
Wednesday’s action also comes courtesy of the Champions League with Chelsea welcoming Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich facing up to Lazio, all games are, as usual, at 20:00 on BT Sport.
Thursday sees the fourth T20 of the England and India series as Eoin Morgan’s men will look to have cemented their sub-continent credentials ahead of this year’s World Cup. The Honda Classic gets underway from South Florida later in the evening where every day’s play will be live on Sky Sports until its conclusion on Sunday. There’s also Europa League action on Thursday as Manchester United travel over to Italy to face AC Milan, while Slavia Prague arrive in Scotland for a clash with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, both fixtures will be live on BT Sport at 20:00.
Friday rounds off the action from the Cheltenham Festival as Al Boum Photo bids to make history by winning a third Gold Cup. Later in the day, Newcastle Falcons host Wasps on BT Sport, while on Sky Sports Leeds United travel to Craven Cottage to play Fulham.
Bournemouth and Southampton kick off Saturday’s action at lunchtime before the fifth and final T20 starts between India and England shortly after. Rugby dominates the rest of the day with three Premiership Rugby fixtures in the afternoon on BT Sport. The final day of the Six Nations also plays out with Scotland taking on Italy, Ireland hosting England, and closing the round at 20:00 on BBC is France and Wales.
Chelsea and Sheffield begin Sunday’s fixtures with their 13:30 kick off in the FA Cup, before day one of the West Indies and Sri Lanka Test starts. There’s more Premiership Rugby on BT Sport and closing the weekend is the duty of Leicester City as they host Manchester United at 17:00 on BBC, also in the cup.
