DAQMAN’S NAP PULLS 14 LENGTHS CLEAR AT ODDS AGAINST: Daqman forecast an all-the-way win for his nap, Danny Kirwan (WON 5-4), at Wincanton yesterday, and he did just that, pulling 14 lengths clear of his hurdles field. Says Daqman: ‘If I were to open a Fortune Cookies list for next Jumps season (2021-22), I would want Danny on board for novice chases.’
LOOK OUT FOR AN ABC GUIDE TO MONDAY’S IRISH NATIONAL: Daqman spent yesterday trying to sort his Early Birds list for tomorrow; in doing so, he was warned to avoid Derby favourite, High Definition, until the trials nearer the race. Look out later in the week for his Irish National ABC, a stats guide to next Monday’s big race at Fairyhouse.

Big-race diary. Best news I have of the Ballydoyle three-year-old aces is for High Definition. I was just going to take 12-1 ante-post for the Guineas, when my man in the long grass advised:
‘High Definition is working well. He’s been favourite for the Derby since eating up ground late on to take the Beresford.
‘I’ve had my finger on the icon to get involved in the Guineas but the word is that he will swerve Newmarket and take in a Derby trial on his way to Epsom.
‘His Derby offers won’t change much for a while from 5.0 on BETDAQ but, once his well-being is assured nearer the trial, he must be backed before the sharks attack.
‘If he wins the trial, as I’m sure he will, High Definition will be very short for Epsom and we can enjoy some ‘overs.’ He is a star by any definition.’

COURT GETS THE VERDICT
⭕ 2.50 Fakenham Small fields are the order of the day at Fakenham which is pretty much par for the course at the pretty Norfolk venue.
I very much like previous course winners here. It’s an idiosyncratic circuit with plenty of tight turns and undulations and can often favour front runners.
For these reasons Court Jurado makes some appeal in this handicap chase. He’s up 6lb for a course and distance win two starts ago which came on soft ground and he raced up with the pace that day. He seems equally as effective on a good surface. judged by his second at Musselburgh last November.
He was disappointing in a ‘jumpers bumper’ at Lingfield last month but that came after a break and he’s never been fully wound up on his first start after an absence so I think that form is probably best consumed with a pinch of salt.
This certainly doesn’t look the strongest of heats – biggest BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market rival Game In The Park is a little weak in early trading and even if discounting his latest poor effort at Leicester (where he lost a shoe) he remains without a win in 19 point and rules starts and has yet to even finish on the podium.
DIAMOND DOESN’T SPARKLE
⭕ 3.45 Newcastle James Armstrong, clerk of the course at Newcastle, has been busy keeping the track watered – a sign that spring might FINALLY be arriving. The going is good ahead of their jumps card.
Just the five runners for this mares’ handicap hurdle and Burrows Diamond looks a little short for me at the top end of the BETDAQ market.
She remains a maiden after seven starts and crucially for me her best form so far has come with give in the ground. We’re not dealing with a great deal in terms of sample size but her two starts on good ground have seen her beaten 31 lengths and 22 lengths.
You can make a reasonable case for any of her four rivals but the same going concerns apply to both Kitty Hall and Laskadine who are both unproven on the quicker surface.
The percentage call is Set In Stone who handled good on the flat and was a dual bumper winner here on the all-weather circuit earlier in the year.
The negative is her disappointing effort at Musselburgh last time out, her first start over hurdles for a while but that run is more than factored into her price today and there’s not much downside at around 5.5 in a five-runner race.
SHUDA WON LAST TIME
⭕ 7.40 Wolverhampton A competitive Ladbrokes-sponsored sprint over six furlongs in which Wudashudacuda is given another chance.
He is still lightly raced was well backed at Lingfield last time out but endured a torrid run getting blocked on several occasions. It can be expensive following ‘excuse horses’ but in this case I think he is well worth another nibble. He ended up finishing 9th of 10 but only beaten 5 lengths and it’s not an exaggeration to say the trouble in running cost him more than the five lengths on this occasion.
