8pm While there are other excellent games in Europe today; only one matters. El Clasico. Atletico Madrid added extra spice to this fixture as they lost 1-0 to Sevilla last weekend, and then Barcelona said up the most important El Clasico for a while when scoring very, very late against Real Valladolid on Monday night. The situation is Atletico Madrid top the table, with Barcelona one point behind and Real Madrid three points behind. What a massive fixture!

I have been saying this for a number of weeks now, but you can see by looking at their xG figures that Barcelona are back. They have been putting in some excellent performances for a number of weeks now – even when getting knocked out of the Champions League they put in some of their best performances of the season away to PSG in the second leg. They only managed an unlucky 1-1 draw, but then they scored ten goals in two games afterwards. It was a big positive that they were able to grind out a 1-0 win against Real Valladolid on Monday too, their backs were against the wall but they never gave up and the big goal came late.
There’s no doubt we will have one of the biggest El Clasico’s tonight. Real have won their last five, but Barcelona are the bet for me at the odds. They come into the game in better form, have had a slightly longer rest with no Champions League midweek and they look like they have their confidence back after a bad start to the season. While Real have won games recently, they still have major issues at the back and Barcelona can take full advantage.
