CHELSEA V MANCHESTER CITY

5.30pm It’s an FA Cup Semi-Final weekend and what a fixture we have in store for Saturday! It’s a slight shame that this isn’t the Final, but I’m sure Leicester and Southampton fans will have something to say about that. We should have a cracker here, and all football bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange too for some excellent value. Both sides come into Wembley on a high after their Champions League performances, and they have another Semi-Final to look forward to. Who knows, this could be the Champions League Final fixture too.

It’s fair to say that both sides got a reasonably easy tie in the last round of the Champions League, with Chelsea beating Porto and Man City beating Dortmund. Both Porto and Dortmund haven’t been at their best domestically this season. Man City have been excellent since the turn of the year however, and for me they look massive at 1.88. Don’t get me wrong, Chelsea have been performing well since sacking Frank Lampard, but Man City are on a different level.

Chelsea are under immense pressure in the race for a Top Four finish in the Premier League after they lost 5-2 to West Brom recently. The xG figures say they were reasonably unlucky, but they have had a fair few draws since the start of the year. The sides met in early 2021 too, with Man City running out 3-1 winners in an impressive display. If you look at the Chelsea xG figures, they have been keeping things reasonably tight lately but they played Liverpool at a good time and it was also a very boring 0-0 with Man United.

I feel the 3-1 win to City earlier in the year says a lot, and the 1.88 on City is hard to get away from. They have been putting in some incredible figures this season and they can continue that here. I know they lost 2-1 to Leeds at the weekend, but they basically have the Premier League title won and would have had an eye on the Dortmund fixture where they created an xG of 2.63. We landed a nice lay on City at very low odds against Leeds, but they will be fully focused on the job here and they can out score this Chelsea side.

  • Chelsea are looking to reach the FA Cup final for a 15th time, with only Arsenal (21) and Manchester United (20) reaching it more often than the Blues. Chelsea have won seven of their last eight semi-final ties, losing only against Man City in 2013 in this run.

  • Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne has been involved in nine goals in his last eight FA Cup matches, scoring four and assisting five.
