8pm We have a fantastic Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday night as Atalanta and Juventus clash at Mapei Stadium! For those of you who don’t know this is the home ground of Sassuolo and only holds around 21,500 but obviously that isn’t an issue in Covid19 times. It’s been a fascinating season in Italy, and with one Matchday left Juventus are still out of the Champions League spots. There’s bound to be drama though because there’s only three points between second and fifth.
It’s fair to say it’s a huge week for Juventus! They have this big Cup final, and then need to win at the weekend away to Bologna. Atalanta currently sit in the second in Serie A, but they have to play AC Milan at the weekend – a draw would likely see AC Milan drop out of the top four with Juventus taking their spot. On paper, Juventus and Napoli should win, so it’s really down to the Atalanta v AC Milan game for the Champions League spot. So, it’s a massive couple of days for both sides!
It’s not a big surprise to see an open market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. You’d have to expect a close game. Juventus recorded a massive win at the weekend at home to Inter Milan. They could be out of the Champions League mix already, but they won 3-2 and performed very well on xG too. That was a great performance, especially considering they didn’t go into the game in great home. They played Sassuolo in the game before that and conceded an xG of 2.21 but managed to win, and lost 3-0 to AC Milan prior to that.
On paper, Atalanta come into the game in much better form. They have always been Serie A’s “dark horses” in the sense that they always record eye-catching xG figures but ultimately come up short for the title. They are playing well at the moment though, and scoring goals for fun. I feel the match odds are right here, and Atalanta are the correct favourites. Juventus impressed me under pressure the weekend, but that’s what the top sides do. The big that catches my eye here is over 2.5 goals at 1.81 – looking at the figures both sides are creating chances and also conceding chances. Finals can sometimes be cagey, but both sides like to play an open game and I can see plenty of goals tonight.
