BALLINROBE MONDAY NAP: SHAMROCK heads to Ballinrobe on Monday for his NAP.
Ballinrobe got the go-ahead this morning for their evening card after officials found that conditions have improved a little. The official going is now soft, heavy in places on the chase course (from heavy, waterlogged in places).
It’s still going to be testing enough and I’m looking to strike early before the ground gets too chewed up.
The Matthew Smith trained Irish Poseidon looks the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE banker on the card for trainer Matthew Smith in the opener.
The five-year-old is a model of consistency on the flat, winning five times and has translated that form to hurdles judged by his first two starts.
A good fourth at Leopardstown in December was followed up with a decent third at Killarney last time out in what looked a stronger contest than tonights with the winner and second that day trained by Denise Foster and Joseph O’Brien.
He looks versatile ground wise. Whilst his wins on the flat have come on the all-weather and good ground, he has a placed effort on heavy ground in France to his name.
The length of absence for a Willie Mullins trained runner is never usually a problem so his Gamin Original (457 days off) rates the danger despite a disappointing debut for the yard when last seen at Fairyhouse.
