HOLIDAY FOCUS: GET THE DRIFT
⚠️ HEADS UP: 17 Whitsun meetings in three days in England up to and including Bank Holiday Monday, starting today with seven on Super Saturday on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.. No commission!
⭕ 2.45 Cartmel Nicky Henderson has his third runner ever at Cartmel with beginners’ chase favourite Fugitives Drift. Henderson is currently striking at 11-17.
⭕ 6.30 Ffos Las But Nico De Boinville goes to ffos Las, where Henderson’s only runner is on a redemption mission, hooded for the first time: Le Bateau, beaten favourite at Warwick recently.
⭕ 2.45 Haydock All eyes on El Astronaute. Can other front-runners foil his early blast-off? He won the race last year but it was held at Doncaster.
⭕ 3.10 Beverley The same owners of the 2016 and 2019 winners of this Two-Year-Old Trophy have bought Straits of Moyle, the son of one of those winners, to complete the hat-trick today. BETDAQ 7.0
⭕ 5.00 Chester Sir Michael Stoute, who has a 25% strike rate at Beverley and near-25% at Chester, has two runners today, one at each meeting: Bawaady (4.55 Beverley) and Beating All (5.00 Chester at BETDAQ 5.6)
⭕ 5.40 Salisbury Hector Crouch and Saeed Bin Surror have a 60% strike rate when teaming up at Salisbury (Home City).
⭕ 5.55 Catterick Good luck to John Quinn as he bids for a major stable double today with El Astronaute (2.20) and Safe Voyage (3.30) in the big races at Haydock. If it all unravels, he might need a tot of Captain Jameson, who has crashed 20lb down the weights. Beaten just a nose on this track recently.
DETTORI ON TWO FOR BECKETT
⭕ 1.45 Haydock I’ve watched the replays of every winner of this and all came with a late run from the high numbers on or near the stands’ rail.
Now down to within a pound of his winning mark here in September, and a CD winner at Haydock three times, Hyperfocus (stall 11) likes to be held up for a run and has won from both sides of the track.
In fact, on one occasion, he came down the near side of a bunch in the middle, and went so far clear he crossed over to the far rail and romped home.
Air Raid (13) is also a CD winner on a good mark but may need a run back and his stable is out of form (Jedd O’Keefe 0-11).
Bernardo O’Reilly (15) is ridden by a claimer ,bringing him below previous winning weights but has been best on good ground and, again, his is a stable out of form.
Bielsa (14 ) ran a cracker on the last day, fifth at York in a class 2 (Brian The Snail behind), but that was with first-time cheekpieces and he gets only 5lb for a defeat of nearly seven lengths by Hyperfocus in that CD race in September.
Ralph Beckett has Frankie Dettori engaged for two mounts today that you wouldn’t particularly fancy but, in this one, Helvezia, Listed placed over 7f and suited by the ground, is obviously going to test these for stamina.
BETDAQ value 8.7 Helvezia, 11.5 Hyperfocus
BOOSH! HE’S HOT AT BETDAQ 9.4
⭕ 2.20 Haydock The flying-machine El Astronaute should beat Tarboosh again on their one-two last summer, but was stone last to Moss Gill at York a month later.. then Moss Gill was behind Tarboosh in September!
That’s what you are up against with sprinters. It’s a question of whose day is it today?
El Astronaute won this last year (beat Tarboosh half a length) but the race was run at Doncaster and his sole Haydock start was 11th of 12. He has Ornate and Zargun to wear away at him early on this afternoon.
York-lover Moss Gill wears cheekpieces for the first time after a moderate start to the season. Has never raced at Haydock.
Aljady and Count D’Orsay have been just short of Listed class so far, and Motogally’s form suggests he needs firm ground. It’s drying today but not that quickly.
Tarboosh had wind ops over the winter; won a Listed in September, beating Dakota Gold, who took the scalps of both Aljady and Moss Gill at Nottingham.
BETDAQ value 9.4 Tarboosh
IT’S ALL THANKS TO THE DRAW
⭕ 3.30 Haydock (John O Gaunt Stakes) Low numbers have a fantastic record in this, with results by stall in the decade: 9, 3, 2, 2, 3, 2, 6, 3, 3, 3.
Safe Voyage (in 2) landed a hat-trick of hits at Haydock when easily winning this race two years ago (heavy).
He’s done even better since, scoring twice in Group 2 last year at York and Leopardstown.
But he ran his worst race ever in UK in the Group-1 Lockinge Stakes on his reappearance, trailing in last.
An eight-year-old won this race (Penitent in 2014 at 33-1) and, down two grades, Safe Voyage cannot be ruled out entirely but needs to bounce back from Newbury.
Victoria Cup winner here, River Nymph (3), could be good enough to move in Pattern circles but a strong pace might find him out; he hasn’t been getting a mile.
Next door to Safe Voyage and River Nymph, and in between them both on the ratings, is With Thanks (4 stall), a filly who improved 30lb last autumn on heavy, despite being hiked from a class-5 novice to a Group 3, winning them both. Wow!
Kinross drops a grade from Group-2 attempts over further at Meydan. He’s a Listed winner who weakened only close home in the Superior Mile against older horses at Haydock in September. Gelded since and Frankie Dettori rides.
BETDAQ value 6.2 With Thanks, 8.8 Kinross

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
