GOING SOFT FOR DAY 4: A deluge overnight has turned the Royal Ascot going ‘soft’ and there’s more to come, according to the weather forecast. Will the bias to high numbers hold good, or will the rain change all that? Headlines:

SHE IS THE PRETTIEST OF THEM ALL

🎩 2.30 Royal Ascot (Albany Stakes)

STATS Results by stall (10 years): 14, 12, 20, 17, 13, 16, 13, 15, 14, 14. Jockey: Jamie Spencer (2).

FORM: The near rail is dominant in this and won a mile in the Norfolk yesterday. So the 5 and 6 stalls for Flotus and Hello You, are unappealing at the prices. Flotus was impressive at Goodwood but this is Ascot; Hello You won at Wolverhampton in a good time but such speed may be blunted on the soft today.

Jockeyship will decide whether stable-tip Cachet (from 8) and Hellomydarlln (9) can get involved but there’s one I marked down for the Fortune Cookies but didn’t have room.

Prettiest (11) impressed at Navan and, equally important, connections said afterwards that she’s a two-year-old, meaning they would exploit her this season not wait with her until next.

Oscula is in 12 but she has been scooting downhill at Brighton and Epsom so not sure she will enjoy the wide-open spaces of Ascot. Sunstrike was slammed nine lengths by Hello You in May but this has been her target all season and she’s drawn 14.

On the other side, Elliptic must be the form filly: she beat this week’s Queen Mary winners Quick Suzy at Tipperary and time may tell that her defeat at the Curragh by a colt, Railway Stakes contender Dr Zempf, was a tough consignment.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
value 9 Prettiest, 12.5 Elliptic

FRANKIE CAN FLY ON CAMPANELLE

🎩 3.05 Royal Ascot (King Edward V11 Stakes)

FORTUNE COOKIES today are Alenquer (BETDAQ 3.3) in this and Campanelle in the Commonwealth Cup at 3.40, both winners on the soft.

The German-bred had no trouble containing the Derby winner, Adayar, in the Sandown Classic Trial, and the way he wondered around, still a bit green, he looked likely to make further improvement.

🎩 3.40 Royal Ascot (Commonwealth Cup)

FORTUNE COOKIES: Campanelle (14) seems sure to bag the near rail, and Welsey Ward fans know she is no fade-out like this week’s two-year-olds. She won the Morny last year on a softer-than-soft French seaside surface, and is reunited with Frankie Dettori.

Where she is we also find the big improver of the race, Dragon Symbol in stall 18 (close second at Haydock on heavy).

Suesa is unbeaten in France in four starts and will love the ground. Maybe Mighty Gurkha will give her a tow on the far side.

BETDAQ value 5 Suesa, 5.5 Campanelle

EMPRESS TO WIN GUINEAS CLASH

🎩 4.20 Royal Ascot (Coronation Stakes)

STATS: Jessica Harrington (Oodnadatta) has won two of the last three runnings of this mile test for three-year-old fillies.

FORM: Oodnadatta was third when Pretty Gorgeous ran second to Shale in the Moyglare last September but the Gorgeous one was down the field in the Irish 1,000 Guineas when made favourite despite the heavy ground.

The winner of that Guineas was Empress Josephine, seemingly the one most at home on the deep surface.

And here she meets Mother Earth, winner of the firm-ground Newmarket 1,000 Guineas (Alcohol Free fifth) and then bogged down, second in the French equivalent.

It could still be raining by 4.20 and, as I have to make my selection early, I have to assume that Ryan Moore has chosen wrong and go for the one of the O’Brien pair who was able to find a turn of foot out of soft ground.

BETDAQ value 7.2 Empress Josephine.

A FRIENDLY BETDAQ OFFER AT 15.0

🎩 5.00 Royal Ascot (Sandringham Handicap)

FORM: Create Belief comes out on top of Friendly on a line through Holly Golightly but Friendly (drawn right on the near rail today) shot up the ratings after an improved performance in Empress Josephine’s Irish 1,000 Guineas. I spent a lot on these big-field handicaps yesterday; and they are a bigger lot tery today; I’ll be content with BETDAQ value for a soft-ground starter today:

BETDAQ value: 15.0 Friendly

🎩 5.35 Royal Ascot (Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap)

STATS: Mark Johnston, who won the Gold Cup yesterday, scored twice in this handicap with four-year-olds off big weights, rated 99 and 104. Here he has hat-trick winner Zabeel Champion out of stall 13.

Hughie Morrison booked Oisin Murphy blue moons ago for Quickthorn after the champ rode the Nathaniel gelding to a very smooth victory at Haydock just three weeks back.

Tyson Fury, a CD winner on the soft, ran too freely in the Group-3 John Porter Stakes, and this is more his bag.

Mirann is the hidden horse. Unlucky last time on soft-heavy at The Curragh (1m 2) and now stepped back up in trip.

🎩 5.35 BETDAQ value 5.6 Quickthorn, 12.5 Mirann

🎩 6.10 BETDAQ value 20.0 Significantly

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
