LAYS LOGIC: Favourites: Five winners out of 20; ten out of 18 unplaced (place betting on favourites poor value).
MUJTABA (ABCDE) Unbeaten Dubawi gelding (3-3 up to class-3 level). Ticks all the boxes. Trainer, who has won the Lincoln four times with only six runners, expects Mujtaba to take high rank.
TEODOLINA (ACDE) Early-bird trainer and early-bird filly! She won first run back last season at Ascot (1m) good to soft. Nothing after that but disliked heavy ground. Form over 1m on good, good to soft and soft: 121.
DARKNESS (ACES) Winner in French Provinces on very soft ground for Jean–Claude Rouget (first run for David O’Meara here). Twice finished close up at Group-3 level. Same sire as French-Classics winner St Mark’s Basilica.
NOTRE BELLE BETE (ACES) Grey gelding. After scoring at Lingfield, won the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton from consistent pair, Baldomero and United Front (qv). Carries a penalty.
ROGUE BEAR (ACS) Winner at Doncaster on debut and scored twice in the autumn at Nottingham on different going. Pedigree (Kodiak out of High Chaparral mare) suggests he could both step up and stay further.
MODERN NEWS (ADE) Shamardal gelding who completed 7f hat-trick at class-2 level, including narrow defeat here at Doncaster (good to firm). Fit from Listed third in Dubai.
SALEYMM (AE) Well-related Dubawi colt who won twice in the autumn, stepping up each time and landing heavy market support by wide margins, once from the front, once waited with. Should improve again.
JOHAN (BC) Has won after a break and had close form with Brunch in 2020; fourth in the Golden Mile at Goodwood after class-2 strike (good to soft) off 10st. Moved from William Haggas to Mick Channon.
WHATS THE STORY (BCS) Best at York. Doncaster Mile runner-up first time out in 2021 but eight now, and last won a race in 2019.
MARIES DIAMOND (BCS) Mainly modest form last year and outclassed at Meydan this (overall 1-14) but led his group a furlong out in the Cambridgeshire (1m 1f).
IRISH ADMIRAL (CD) Dropped to class 3 to score sole success on turf in August over Hortzadar and Scottish Summit (1m good to firm).
BRUNCH (CS) Runner-up last year, with Hortzadar 3rd, Revich 6th, Scottish Summit 10th, before neck second at York and won Listed at Pontefract.
FAME AND ACCLAIM (CS) Joseph O’Brien winner in Ireland; aimed high by new yard (placed twice) and has had wind op. But 13 runs without success.
ANOTHER BATT (CS) Soft-ground winner (7f) here in the autumn; seven now. Stable in form this month.
SAFE VOYAGE (CS) Group-2 double at York and Leopardstown in the autumn of 2020. Best effort since, 7f Listed win at Chester in July.
AMETIST (DES) The third William Haggas runner. Landed 7f four-timer last Spring, and back to form, third, in the Cambridgeshire. (1m 1f firm).
REVICH (CS) Five wins between ratings 78-92 but form off higher marks is 00044002430. One only success at 1m, and sixth in the Lincoln last year.
SCOTTISH SUMMIT (CS) Bridesmaid extraordinary – 19 times second or third – with winning form in 2020 but nine years old now.
UNITED FRONT (CE) Placed 14 times out of 16 on AW but 0-10 on turf. Four AW wins for Michael Appleby since leaving Aidan O’Brien. Lincoln Trial third to Notre Belle Bete (qv).
HORTZADAR (CES) Down 4lb on last winning mark 13 races ago but well exposed at age 7. Third in last season’s Lincoln, half a length behind Brunch (qv) and better off with that one today (won fresh three years ago).
BROKEN SPEAR (–) Winner of two big-field handicaps last year but both over 7f, including when winning Apprentice-Jockeys’-Training-Series final for today’s rider, Jonny Peate (claims 7), at Doncaster in November.
EAGLEWAY (–) Winner up to 7.5f but placed five times over a mile without success. Moderate turf strike-rate: 2-16.
PIPE’S ON OLYMPE PODIUM
⭕ 1.45 Musselburgh David Pipe is 5-12 for a 43% strike-rate from saddling the few from his Somerset yard to make the long haul to Edinburgh. Today he has his first runner at Musselburgh for almost six years.
Olympe De Gouges made a poor start on the soft but, as soon as the filly encountered better ground the last day at Doncaster, she broke her hurdles maiden, turning over an odds-on runaway leader.
She’s been raised 7lb in future handicaps so is ahead of the game here and is BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE value 6.8.
⭕ 3.05 Newton Abbot Philip Hobbs has had a lean season but has picked up a couple of winners in the last few days and, despite having saddled more than 1,000 runners at Newton Abbot, he has a near-23% strike–rate there.
Lone Star has failed to act in bumpers when treated like a quarterhorse but she was always going to be home on the stamina range, sister to solid winners at today’s trip but well above this level. BETDAQ 6.8
Bumper winner Whisky Express is better than the bare form over hurdles and is another who should enjoy the step up in trip. BETDAQ 3.8.
⭕ 7.45 Newcastle Lunasa’s Newcastle form is 214010 but reduced to 5f only, Linda Stubbs’ filly has a career record there of 101.
This is the time of year that Linda does the business and Lunasa – on 66 and claimed off – gets 16lb and 18lb from top-weights El Hadeeyah and Foxy Rascal. BETDAQ 11.5.
LAYS LOGIC: Hot Diggity Dog is up 10lb and up in grade for her sole career win here in October (1-10) and has been beaten favourite in three consecutive races since.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
