BUNDESLIGA AND LA LIGA: The Ultra previews Friday’s games between STUTTGART v DORTMUND and SEVILLA v GRANADA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
STUTTGART V DORTMUND
7.30pm It’s been a fantastic week in Europe, and to be honest we have an incredible run of football in Europe! Last weekend was excellent, then we had the Champions League and Europa League Quarter-Finals and now we head into another intriguing weekend on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We kick the action off with our usual Friday night football slot of one game from the Bundesliga and one from La Liga. We start in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart hosting Dortmund. We already knew the title race was over in Germany (did it ever start?) but the nail was put in the coffin at the weekend when Dortmund lost 4-1 to RB Leipzig. I thought they wouldn’t turn around a six point gap, and they have no chance of coming back from nine points behind – it’s another Bundesliga for Bayern! Dortmund have to pick themselves up after an embarrassing defeat and that’s going to be very tough considering they are out of Europe too. It will be interesting to see how they play here and what type of reaction we get from the players. Stuttgart are under pressure in the relegation fight, and they are fighting for their lives.
Stuttgart start the weekend sitting just outside the relegation playoff spot in 15th, but they are in big dangers. Arminia Bielefeld are in the relegation playoff spot just one point behind them and then Hertha Berlin are also just one point behind Stuttgart too! A bad run of results for Stuttgart could easily see them go down, and we all know how strongly Hertha Berlin finished the season last season too. The good news for Stuttgart fans is they have good momentum at the moment – they are unbeaten in four games and that run of results has come just at the right time. They were unlucky not to beat Arminia Bielefeld in their last game, but obviously there’s a big difference in class between Arminia Bielefeld and Dortmund! They have had a reasonably easy fixture list recently, but they have played well. Despite that, I can’t see past Dortmund here at 1.91 from a value point of view. I fully accept Stuttgart are playing well and will have confidence, but Dortmund are a much better side – I simply can’t have them trading as big as 1.91 against a side in a relegation battle. I am worried about morale being a little low after last week, so I will just limit stakes as I still feel Dortmund are the standout value bet.

SEVILLA V GRANADA
8pm We move to La Liga to finish the evening as Sevilla host Granada. Very similar thoughts apply to Sevilla as I said above about Dortmund. It must be hard to raise morale after exiting from Europe and they have dropped away from the top of La Liga too. At times this season, there has seemed to be a “title challenge” when Real Madrid have dropped points but Sevilla have never took their chance. They’ve actually dropped more points recently and now they’ve slipped down to four as Barcelona and Atletico have went on winning runs. Sevilla can’t afford to feel sorry for themselves given they are only four points ahead of Real Betis, and Real Betis have been in the top four for so long they will be very hopeful of Sevilla dropping more points! Sevilla have only recorded one win from their last six La Liga games, and ironically (importantly!) that win came against Real Betis. They just haven’t been creating enough chances though, and they exited the Europa League in between those games too. They have finished games with xG figures like 0.50, 0.45, 0.61 and 1.19 recently and that just hasn’t been good enough – apart from Barcelona too they haven’t had a hard fixture list on paper too. They are heavy odds on favourites to win here, and I’m not sure I would be rushing to back them at odds like 1.42 even allowing for the gulf in class here.
Granada have their own worries, as they are locked in a relegation battle. Elche are three points ahead of them in 15th, so there definitely looks like a bottom five at the moment. Garanda are the side sitting highest of that bottom five, but are they just three points ahead of Mallorca. They are probably “lucky” in the sense that Mallorca have been so poor and went on such a losing run but they have still been very average this season. Granada actually come into this game in reasonably form in front of goal too – they have picked up a draw and a win in their last two games creating xG figures of 2.69 and 2.11 along the way too. They were unlucky to lose to Elche prior to that, and while I strongly feel the Sevilla price is too short at 1.42, I’m happy to back Granada on the handicap here at 1.7 +1.5 goals. That allows for a close Sevilla win, and they haven’t been creating a lot recently so I can’t see them blowing away Granada – if they do win it will be a grind.
