WEEK AHEAD: The final day of the Premier League, the Europa League Final, and the second golf major of the year all make for a special week of sporting action.


Cricket fans will be looking forward to their daily dose of the Indian Premier League on Monday, which gets the week underway when the Kings XI Punjab take on Delhi Capitals at 15:00 on Sky Sports. After last week’s defeat to Tottenham, Arsenal can’t afford to drop any more points if they are to secure a top four finish. They are away to Newcastle at 20:00 (Sky Sports).

On Tuesday, the IPL’s bottom side, the Mumbai Indians face a difficult task against Sunrisers Hyderabad (15:00, Sky Sports). Liverpool continue their chase of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, when they face Southampton in a 19:45 kick-off (Sky Sports). At the same time the Premiership Rugby Cup final between London Irish and Worcester gets underway on BT Sport.

Wednesday’s IPL fare sees the Kolkata Knight Riders against second in the table Lucknow Super Giants (15:00, Sky Sports). In the evening there’s a huge game to look forward to with Rangers and Eintract Frankfurt facing each other in the Europa League final from Seville. It’s the Glasgow side’s first European final since they lost to Zenit St Petersburg in 2008. Can Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side atone for that defeat and send shockwaves through the footballing world?

The second major of the golf season begins on Thursday with the PGA Championship from the Southern Hills Championship Course in Oklahoma. Rory McIlroy was the last European player to triumph in the event, when he secured his second win in 2014. Will we see another European lift the trophy this year? Catch the opening day’s play from 13:00 on Sky Sports. At 15:00 on Sky Sports there’s IPL action, Royal Challengers Bangalore v Gujarat Titans, before the next evening on the Premier League Darts circuit (19:00, Sky Sports). There are also several big games in the Premier League, which have the potential to decide the relegation battle. Everton play Crystal Palace at 19:45, before Burnley are away to Aston Villa at 20:00. Chelsea and Leicester also kick off at 20:00.

On Friday afternoon catch the second round from the PGA Championship at 13:00 on Sky Sports. Rajasthan Royals are up against the struggling Chennai Super Kings at 15:00 (Sky Sports). In the evening Wasps face Sale in the Gallagher Premiership (19:45, BT Sport).

It’s a similar schedule on Saturday. The cut will have been made in the golf and the remaining players will all fancy their chances of glory over the weekend. Play on round three begins at 14:00 on Sky Sports. The Mumbai Indians are in action against Delhi Capitals at 15:00 (Sky Sports), while Harlequins take on Gloucester at the same time on BT Sport. Rangers face their second final in the space of three days, when they take on Hearts in the Scottish Cup at Hampden (15:00, BBC). Can the Jambos take advantage of Rangers European exertions?

Sunday begins with the Spanish Grand Prix, live from 13:00 on Sky Sports, as both Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen look to race clear in the Drivers’ Championship. The PGA Championship concludes from 14:00 (Sky Sports), and the Sunrisers Hyderabad play Kings XI Punjab (15:00, Sky Sports). It’s the final weekend in the Premier League and it could go down to the wire. Liverpool play Wolves, while Manchester City face Aston Villa. Everton, Burnley and Leeds’s relegation scrap will be decided too, as they play Arsenal, Newcastle and Brentford respectively.
