HAGGAS FAITH IN QUEEN AMINATU
⭕ 3.30 Haydock today The way Elsals made all at Lingfield – after gelding and with cheekpieces first time – suggests that ‘he’ will be well suited to this track in his first handicap. William Buick rides.
But Queen Aminatu also won over 7f at Lingfield and her time was much faster. She is clearly highly regarded by William Haggas, made favourite in all three starts this year and going for a hat-trick today, again market leader at 2.56 on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE as I write.
YAHTZEE CAN BEAT THE FAVOURITE
⭕ 6.20 Hamilton He’s the Scott who beats the Scots. Newmarket trainer George Scott has had four runners at Hamilton, and three have won.
The yard, which has won five races out of six since March with a horse called Captain Kane, has booked northern ace Paul Mulrennan to do the steering on the filly who entered notebooks with a decent debut at Lingfield.
Mark Johnston doesn’t do everything expected of him but it is a surprise that Favourite Queen has her fourth novice event instead of moving into handicaps.
She ran very green a couple of lengths behind Yahtzee (fifth) when seventh in the Lingfield race. Yet she is 2.78 this morning, with Yahtzee 4.2, as I write.
LILY POND MUNSTER OAKS VALUE
⭕ 7.10 Cork (Munster Oaks) Aidan O’Brien three-year-olds have won four out of seven against older fillies and mares at this Group-3 level. All were first or second favourites.
Today he saddles value BETDAQ 4.6 offer Lily Pond, related to an Epsom Oaks runner-up and, by Galileo out of Alluringly, her dam was second to Enable in the Cheshire Oaks.
Lily Pond was runner-up in the Blue Wind to the Epsom Oaks sixth last week, Tranquil Lady, which should also be good enough in this league.
Thunder Kiss has already won here at Cork over the 1m 4f (soft, Listed) and Ger Lyons sent the grey over to be third in a Group 2 at York (Forbearance behind). The stable also runs Yaxeni.
Rosscarbery has won all three starts this year, staying at a low level but punished 12lb for winning a soft-ground handicap at Roscommon.
So Paddy Towmey really had no choice when he vowed of this daughter of Sea The Stars: ‘Her handicap days are behind her.’
BIGGLES CAN FLY HOME AT KEMPTON
⭕ 7.30 Kempton Saeed Bin Suroor struggled to get just one win from 10 starts out of Secret Moment and that was in a class-5 handicap of 7f at Wolverhampton.
Though bumping an opponent, he kept second place up into class 3 at Chelmsford.
He’s now back over 7f and splits the difference in class, but without the blinkers, trying this grade 4 but up against an improver.
Biggles goes for a hat-trick, raised only 7lb in total, with his Kempton runner-up going on to the Epsom Derby meeting and comfortably winning a class 2. BETDAQ 2.23.
