INDIA v SOUTH AFRICA: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s 3rd T20 with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s been a while since India were under pressure in T20 cricket, but they come into the 3rd T20 with South Africa 2-0 down in the series! The sides move to Visakhapatnam on Tuesday afternoon and we should have another cracker on BETDAQ Betting Exchange to enjoy. After such a long winning run in International T20’s, it will be interesting to see how India react to being behind in the series and losing two games in a row. Although they are without their batting stars, it has actually been the bowling that’s let them down so far. The pitch was reasonably tricky as expect in Cuttack at the weekend and once again it looked like India had a winning score but a wonder innings from Heinrich Klaasen got South Africa home after 18.2 overs.

That Klassen innings was remarkable. South Africa finished six down, with five of their batsmen finishing with a score of 4 runs or under – I am including the not out in that, but it’s still remarkable. David Miller chipped in again with 20 runs, and he also finished not out being there to guide them home. I said before in my preview of the 2nd T20, having David Miller in form could easily lead South Africa to a massive series win in India. South Africa haven’t been the force of old, but a series win away to India will mean a huge amount – it always does given it’s such a tough place to tour and their side is so strong.

From an Indian point of view, they need to fix the bowling. That’s the second game in a row that they have had no answers having come under pressure in the second innings. They need a wicket taker or a strike bowler. It seems someone from this South African side will fire if they keep attacking. The batting will come into question after 148/6 but I don’t think it was that bad given the conditions. Nevertheless, we should have another cracker.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Once again we are in the dark on conditions here. With Covid19 there hasn’t been much cricket of note here, and no IPL games either. We’ve only had two International T20’s here and they were in 2016 and 2019. Even since 2019, I think T20 cricket has changed a lot so I wouldn’t read too much into those scores – it’s not a big sample size anyway. They were low scores however, and have that in the back of your mind. I would suggest we’ll see another reasonably tricky pitch, possibly par could be between 150 and 160 depending on dew. There is a 20% chance of rain on the day, so keep an eye on the radar.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We pretty much have the exact same prices as the 2nd T20 here, and I have to say I disagree with that. Once again we saw India’s bowling crumble under pressure, and I feel that should be factored in here. South Africa are chasing well and they are confident – although he only scored 20 Miller finished not out and following on from a very good IPL, him being in form is very dangerous for India. From what we have seen so far, it’s hard not to see another very close game here to be honest. I would keep stakes low before the off, but I’m happy to side with South Africa at the odds. Their batting is firing, they know to attack even if they lose wickets along the way, and that can put India under immense pressure again.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This is a very similar situation to the 2nd T20 in the sense that we don’t have much ground data to go off and it’s very difficult to form an in-running strategy before the off. I would keep a close eye on the radar to see if we have any weather in the area as that will obviously have an impact on the odds, and I would also want to see what the wicket is playing like before deciding what to do. From a player point of view, it has paid to take on this Indian bowling attack in the first two games and I would happily take them on again here – just wait and see what the wicket is like. There is a chance this could be a low scoring game.
