PREVIEW
Chelsea have a chance this evening to make up for the controversial 1-1 draw that saw them dumped out of Europe three years ago when Barcelona last were at Stamford Bridge. Referee Tom Henning Ovrebo received plenty of criticism for his part in the score and the Blues’ recent form suggests they can give the Catalans a serious test.

Roberto Di Matteo has worked wonders since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas and the emphatic 5-1 triumph over Tottenham highlights the changes the Italian has made at the club. Having already guided the side to the FA Cup final, Di Matteo has two legs to negotiate against Barca if he’s to take the club to their first European final since 2008.  Chelsea have a solid record against Barca and they have not been beaten by them for five straight matches.

Like Chelsea, Barcelona by their own high standards have struggled in La Liga this term. Pep Guardiola’s side are five points behind Real Madrid, but they continue to thrive in Europe. Barca are aiming for their fourth final in seven years and to land successive Champions League trophies.

If the Blues are to progress they will need to find a way to stop Leo Messi scoring. The Argentine has already bagged 14 goals in the competition and he’s scored nine in his last three European outings.

Chelsea have held their own in the past at the Bridge when Barca have visited and I fancy them to head to Spain with the scores level. Punters should back the draw at around 4.1 on BETDAQ.
