Athletic Bilbao are one of three Spanish clubs contesting the Europa League semi-finals as they look to continue their superb form in the competition. Having given Manchester United a footballing lesson, Bilbao eventually edged a high scoring game with highflying Schalke 04 6-4 on aggregate in the quarters.
The German club have been excellent at home all season and Bilbao put four past them in the opening leg with some clinical finishing. Bilbao will now play the first leg on their travels for the third time running and so far they’ve won each one.
Marcelo Bielsa would still prefer his side to be further up La Liga, but they have won two of their past three games. Fernando Llorente scored the winner at the weekend and he grabbed a brace in the first game against Schalke. The visitors have scored seven times in their past two away European fixtures.
Sporting Lisbon reached the last four thanks to a 3-2 aggregate victory over Metalist and much of their good work has been done in Portugal. Sporting have played seven home games in Europe this year and they have won every one of them.
Bilbao have won their past two away European fixtures and I fancy them to take a lead back to Spain. My advice for punters would be to back the away win at 2.77 on BETDAQ.
