Manchester United can edge another step closer to a 20th league title should they beat Everton in their penultimate home game of the campaign. Sir Alex Ferguson would have demanded a big performance against Aston Villa after the shambles at Wigan and that’s exactly what he got – albeit with a controversial opener.

United and Everton games tend to be tight affairs, but it’s the Manchester club that have held the advantage of late. That is especially the case at Old Trafford and Toffees fans must look back to 1992 to find the last time their side left there with all three points.

The 4-0 Villa win took United’s tally to 15 victories at home in the league this season. Wayne Rooney scored twice to take his league haul to 24 goals and he’s now only two off his record total in a season.

Although Everton were left bitterly disappointed with the cup defeat to Liverpool last weekend, they can still finish above their city rivals in the league. As is stands, David Moyes’ side have a one point cushion, but maintaining that lead looks a tough ask. Not only have Everton struggled at Old Trafford, they have not been at their best this season when away from Goodison Park. Everton’s league away form reads five wins, six losses and five draws.

Home advantage is key here and with United possessing it this time around, I cannot see them slipping up. United’s record against Everton speaks volumes and with that I’m happy to recommend that punters back United with the -1.5 Asian handicap at 1.77 on BETDAQ.
