DAQMAN SUPERNAP IN CHAMPION DOUBLE: Luxembourg finally bagged his Group 1 yesterday. The winter Derby favourite came out best of a battle with the French (Onesto second, Vadeni not clear run third) in the 570,000-euros Irish Champion Stakes, completing an Aidan O’Brien Leopardstown double launched by Auguste Rodin (WON 11-10), Daqman’s supernap for the Champions Juvenile.
TWO BIG ST-LEGER MEETINGS IN ONE DAY: There are two St Legers within 15 minutes across the cards at Doncaster and the Curragh today. Daqman goes through the form at both meetings: five races at Doncaster and five at the Curragh.

⭕ 1.35 Doncaster (Flying Childers Stakes) LAYS LOGIC: Hard to fault Platinum Queen after 3-4 and then runner-up against the older sprinters in the Nunthorpe, but there are red flags.
Has she had enough now (five races in 11 weeks and hung under pressure in the Nunthorpe)? Can she cope with cut in the ground (she’s been winning on firm)?
Thirdly, it’s not a good race for favourites (2-10).
Trillium at 3.1 on BETDAQ was closing down The Platinum Queen (2.7) this morning.
She gets better race by the race and her sire won the Morny on soft ground in France, which translates pretty deep anywhere else. Prince Of Pillo has bags of speed. Crispy Cat has been thereabouts at the top level.
⭕ 2.10 Doncaster (Portland Handicap) The favourite scored last year but was the first since 2014, following winners at 12-1 (twice), 14-1, 16-1 and 25-1.
Only one single-figure stall scored in the decade; only one aged older than five.
Sunday Sovereign (stall 15) has dropped 8lb from a 100 mark at this time last year and it might be his turn, two runs back after a break, with Jim Crowley booked and the ground come right for him.
Whenthedealinsdone was impressive at Ascot but is up 10lb. Count d’Orsay has dropped 12lb since last summer and has his ground.

TOUGH TRUESHAN IN HIS ELEMENT
⭕ 2.45 Doncaster Cup Favourites are 7-9 and it’s hard to imagine Trueshan being beaten now that the rain has come for him.
He won the Goodwood Cup, the Cadran and the British Long-Distance Cup inside 10 weeks last summer-autumn.
Put up a remarkable weight-carrying performance in the Northumberland Plate, and was narrowly run out it in the Godowood Cup by Kyprios and Stradivarius on a sound surface, when Coltrane was more than three-lengths behind him in fourth.
Handicapper Get Shirty has shot up 19lb this season, scoring three time son the soft, but has never won in England beyond 1m 6f or tried the pattern until now.
Willie Mullins won a weak renewal with eight-year-old Thomas Hobson (2018) and asks William Buick to find a way to pinch the race with Stratum, now aged 9.
HASKOY THE ONE FOR LEGER CASH
⭕ 3.55 Doncaster (St Leger) STATS and ABC FORM GUIDE in Daqman yesterday.
1: HASKOY Ryan Moore reported her still very green when she won the Galtres Stakes at York, and there’s nothing like sun on the back of an unexposed filly learning all the time, particularly when trained Ralph Beckett. Frankie Dettori takes over. She’s been the only one for money this week.
2: NEW LONDON Kept on strongly to capture the Gordon Stakes (Group 3) at Goodwood, with the third home, Derby runner-up Hoo Ya Mal. But his sire Dubawi, dominant up to a mile and a half, has blown his three chances in the Leger so far: 0-3.
3: EMILY DICKINSON Aidan O’Brien has had two frustrating three-year-olds this term: Luxembourg, who finally came good yesterday and ‘Emily’, who could yet play a late trump card, after running her best races at this trip.
But can she handle the ground? The morning market says not, and she and Eldar Eldarov are also by Dubawi.

BUICK-DOYLE GO HEAD TO HEAD
⭕ 5.05 Doncaster (Mallard Handicap) Twelve times placed but only twice a winner on turf, HMS President was runner-up in this ‘handicap St Leger’ last year and could place again, with William Buick scoring freely.
Just one winner in the decade has broken the 10st barrier and Inchicore (Hollie Doyle) is up against it, even though Alan King is back among the winners after a lean spell.
Wise Eagle has won 10 races from 1m to 1m 4f up to class 3. His yard is currently 2-2 and his jockey, Danny Tudhope, has had five decent winners in September so far.
Going Gone has raced up to 2m 4f (fourth in the Ascot Stakes) but never won beyond 1m 4f. He and the horse that beat him at Ascot the last day – Themaxwecan – need top of the ground, if the formbook is anything to go by.

COCO IS THROWN A CURVE BALL
⭕ 1.50 The Curragh (Blandford Stakes, 1m 2f, Group 2) La Petite Coco is saddled with 9st 11lb, but favourite to take this for a second year.
She won her first Group 1 – the Pretty Polly – in June and ran third to 120-rated Alpinista over two furlongs further in the Yorkshire Oaks.
Another progressive filly today, Saint-Alary winner Above The Curve, is rated 9lb behind but gets 6lb allowance. Can she close the gap?

⭕ 2.25 The Curragh (Flying Five) Last year Romantic Proposal beat A Case Of You and Glass Slippers (the 2020 winner) but now faces Group-1 hat-trick seeker, Highfield Princess, winner over 5f for the first time when landing the Nunthorpe, with Dragon Symbol fifth and Flotus behind.
Ladies Church beat Mooniesta here in the summer but Castle Star (fifth) needed his first outing since running up to Perfect Power in last autumn’s Middle Park.

MEDITATE MINDING THE MOYGLARE
⭕ 3.00 The Curragh (Moyglare Stud Stakes) Aidan O’Brien, who has won this recently with Minding and Love, has another strong contender in the unbeaten Albany winner Meditate.
Thornbrook, third to Meditate here in August in only her second race, and Tahiyra, impressive at Galway, must be watched in the market.

⭕ 3.35 The Curragh (National Stakes) While, who Aidan O’Brien landed a hat-trick in this top test, with among them Churchill and Gleneagles, gave way to Charlie Appleby in recent years but it may be significant that there is no Godolphin runner this time, and the sole English raider is Goodwood Group-2 winner Marbaan.
It’s a tall order for Marbaan against the 1-2-3 in the Curragh Futurity, Aesop’s Fables (won going away), Hans Anderson and the favourite that day, Proud And Regal, who had won the Group-3 Tyros at Leopardstown.
KYPRIOS LOOKS A CLASSIC PLAYER
⭕ 4.10 The Curragh (Irish St Leger): This second St Leger in 15 minutes after the Doncaster version is an all-aged affair; nevertheless has gone to three and four year olds in the last four seasons.
The 2019 and 2020 winner Search For A Song was favourite, only sixth last year, but goes for a delayed hat-trick, with the Dermot Weld stable in much better form now.
However, Search For A Song was no match for Raise You in the St Leger Trial over the CD last month.
How Emily Dickinson does at Donny will be a pointer to Rosscarbery; they were separated a short-head over 1m 6f at Leopardstown in July, and William Haggas’s Hamish is relatively unexposed for a six-year-old.
But, of course, the spoiler in this excellent field could be Kyprios, who won two for the Fortune Cookies at Group-1 level in the summer: the Ascot Gold Cup and the Goodwood Cup.
His four in a row included two at today’s trip, notably when going 14 lengths clear in the Levmoss at Leopardstown, a feat which started his rise and rise.
What started in Ireland will likely have its finishing touches today, before the Arc and the British Championship at Ascot beckon in October.
