8.0 BETDAQ OFFER FOR BEST-BETS TREBLE: Today Daqman plays up his Andrew Balding winnings with a Wolverhampton nap this evening offered at 8.0 this morning. That would land his hat-trick. First he checks out the big-race result from Ireland yesterday.

LAWLOR’S THROWS UP NEW CHAMP

Willie Mullins has the champ. Not his favourite in the Grade-1 Lawlor’s at Naas yesterday, but his outsider, Champ Kiely, instead.

Champ Kiely staked his claim to the Ballymore at Cheltenham with an all-the-way win, seeing off Irish Point and his Mullins stablemate, market leader, Grangeclare West, who was a moderate fifth.

Irish Point had finished in front of Champ Kiely when they were second and fourth in the Royal Bond.

But Champ Kiely obviously enjoyed returning to 2m 4f after his demise in the 2m Fairyhouse race, which winning jockey Danny Mullins said was ‘messy’ and ‘too short for the Champ.’

Though it was soft yesterday, he has already won twice on the better ground he can expect in March.

Mullins also took the novice chase by 21 lengths with the 2021 Supreme Novice Hurdle winner, Appreciate It, who could now go on to the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown in February, in the footsteps of Energumene (2021) and Blue Lord (2022), who won both races for him.

ADARE YOU TO OPPOSE THE LADY!

⭕ 3.00 Taunton A class-3 handicap hurdle, this is probably the best race of the day over Jumps and, looking at advance cards, one of the best of the week among the dull, drab and indifferent we have to live with at this time of year.

We need improvement in the weather to keep the numbers up on Saturday for the Lanzarote at Kempton and the Warwick Classic, both of which I will try to preview.

The Taunton race is tricky for punters. Four runners have two or more wins in their recent form figures but one without any, Forever William, made three attempts in Graded company last year so Alan King must have thought a lot of him, and he’s still only five. The soft ground will help.

Of the winning quartet, Lady Adare, American Sniper and Throne Hall all have to step up from novice hurdles today.

Sayyadam has already made the transition, and that was over today’s trip, but Kim Bailey says she would prefer better ground.

American Sniper has won on the course but over 2m, whereas Lady Adare is a CD winner making her handicap debut.

Can the mare beat the geldings? Well, she is 4-4 and won 16 lengths here in February.

She is being quoted among the leading contenders for the Dawn Run Mares Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Harry Fry has won today’s race twice before, including with one claimed off, as he does today.

Throne Hall, whose form suggests he won’t like today’s ground, was on the drift this morning.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.95 Lady Adare

8.0 SAORLA BIG BETDAQ VALUE

⭕ 6.00 Wolverhampton Andrew Balding runs a couple of maidens today and I wouldn’t trust the market to tell us of their ‘real’ chance, because every Balding runner will be ‘too short’ after his recent run.

But his bottomweight Saorla is worth a value bet in this fillies’ handicap as a CD winner in the autumn, with the runner-up having scored since.

Saorla won that day in faster time than another CD winner, Valentinka, who is set to give weight all round and was a market drifter this morning.

Bradley Furniss is good for 7lb to nullify her 7lb penalty but she has failed to reach the frame four times (out of four!) when claimed off.

Dungar Glory, a third CD winner, has scored just the once (on Turf) in 16 starts since breaking her maiden here back in 2021.

Algheed has been placed without winning six times at Wolverhampton, and the mare had had eight seconds or thirds in 13 months before getting off the mark the last day. She gives 10lb to Saorla.

Queen Of Burgundy is a Spring horse, aged seven now, and Piffle’s form is just that: I’ve got a hangover from the many times I’ve given her last-chance saloon!

BETDAQ value 8.0 Saorla

LIHOU FOR TRAINER’S TREBLE

⭕ 7.30 Wolverhampton David Evans is 2-2 in this sprint, including with Lihou off 85.

Lihou raced in the 90s after that, won at Salisbury off 76 and ran well, third, over CD here in December; now on the lowly mark of 72.

The stable will no doubt have him spot on for this race-hattrick bid against the 6f horse, Bellagio Man, getting 9lb from Pop Dancer, whose form petered out after a hat-trick shot him up 12lb in the autumn.

BETDAQ value 3.75 Lihou
