THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s Big Bash match between Sydney Sixers v Perth Scorchers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a cracker at the Big Bash on Sunday morning on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Sydney Sixers take on Perth Scorchers! Both these sides have been in excellent form lately, and this has turned into a top of the table clash. At the moment Perth Scorchers are in pole position and they look likely to top the table – they have only lost two of their ten games and their bowling is always very reliable. Good bowling tends to win the franchise leagues more so than good batting, but the Perth batting has also been firing!
Sydney Sixers haven’t played for a week, which is unusual in the Big Bash, but they do come into this game off a massive win in the Sydney Derby. At the time of that fixture, it looked very important with both sides gunning for top spot. The Thunder went on to get hammered by Perth Scorchers this week and have dropped down the table. We also have to remember that we’ve lost a lot of stars to the new SA20 this week, but the Australian Test players have come into the Big Bash mix now. A lot of the Test batters might not make a major impact, and Perth sent David Warner and Sydney Thunder packing quite quickly!
We have two sides here who have a very settled side here with reliable bowlers and in-form batters. I suppose that’s why they have won the last three Big Bash tournaments between them! We should have a very enjoyable game of cricket here.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This will be the fourth game at the SCG, and Sydney Sixers have been in great form here winning all three games. The first inning scores have been 137/6 (won), 150/5 (chased) and 149/8 (won). The chase of 150/5 went to the final over, and in general batting has got a little bit more difficult than in the past at the SCG. A couple of years ago we used to see quite high scores here in the Big Bash but now 150 really puts you into the game.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Perth Scorchers come into the game as the favourites, but we should have a cracking game here. Both sides know their roles very well, and as I said above they are very settled. Sydney Sixers have played very good cricket here, and I feel they are worth backing at 2.14. I just feel we’ll see a very close game here; it’s likely that the game will be decided by one brilliant innings on either side, or a brilliant spell of bowling. I just feel we’ll see a very 50/50 game here, so Sydney Sixers look the value pick in what should be a great game.
The Edge Says:
One point win Sydney Sixers to beat Perth Scorchers at 2.14 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Given the low-ish scores here and the fact that both sides have some impressive bowling, I wouldn’t stay in the market on either batting side. Having watched the first three games, I wouldn’t say that there was an obvious advantage to batting or bowling first, but over all based on previous seasons I would favour the side who bats first – again keeping stakes small. The Perth Scorchers openers blasted their way to a quick win against Sydney Thunder, so if they bat first that might offer a quick trade – but as I said don’t stay too long in the market on either batting side given conditions and the good bowlers on show.
