AUSTRALIAN OPEN MEN’S FINAL: MATCH POINT previews the Stefanos Tsitsipas v Novak Djokovic final with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Men’s Final time and Djokovic is long odds-on for a record breaking 10th Australian Open win and to draw level with Nadal (22) in the career Grand Slams. He could well have surpassed those landmarks already but for missing the tournament 12 months ago because of his COVID status.
Does he still feel the pressure? Djokovic said: “Of course, I feel it. I feel pressure. I feel stress as any other player. I feel nerves. I feel excitement. There’s a lot of different emotions that go through.
“The experience of being in this particular situation and circumstances before helps. The fact that I have never lost in Australian Open finals definitely serves as a great confidence booster.
“But, of course, the job still needs to be done on the court.”
We’ve done quite well with Djokovic so far – he was the main bet in the ante-post portfolio and we collected a profit from his 3-0 win over Tommy Paul in the semi-finals.
Standing in the way of Djokovic is the 24-year-old Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas who is bidding for a first Grand Slam title.
Tsitsipas is in great form this year – winning all 10 matches he has played in but trails in his career H2H with Djokovic 10-2 including a defeat in the French Open 2021 final where he threw away a 2-0 lead.
This won’t be easy for Djokovic against his younger rival but he is playing with so much focus that I expect him to come through in straight sets which can be backed at around 2.44 on BETDAQ.
