THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s IPL clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We finish a blockbuster first weekend at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with two old favourites clashing on Sunday afternoon! Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians have definitely been the two most talked about sides over the years of IPL cricket. Mumbai Indians have a long history of success since 2013, while the RCB are still trying to get that chip off their shoulder with the first win. RCB have mainly focused on star batters down through the years, which does bring fans and excitement but as we all know, a solid bowling unit usually wins the day in T20 franchise cricket.

The two sides come into the IPL this season with questions to answer. RCB always tend to have questions to answer, while Mumbai Indians finished bottom of the table last season. That was a complete shock considering they have won two of the last four IPL’s. To go from challenging for the title to sitting rock bottom must have been hard to take. I expect them to bounce back – they still have a solid group of players and to be honest a lot depends on how you start the tournament. If you start slow and the chance of a playoff spot goes, it’s hard to get a lot of players motivated when everything is focused around money at these big T20 leagues.

Virat Kohli can enjoy just being a batter again with Faf du Plessis RCB captain. Josh Hazlewood is probably the most important RCB player though, when he came into the side last season he transformed how the bowling line-up looked. They’ll also hope to have Glenn Maxwell fit. Jasprit Bumrah out for the Mumbai Indians is a huge blow, and will make their bowling a lot weaker. Jofra Archer will lead the attack, but there isn’t much talent outside him and a lot depends on his performance.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

It’s great to have IPL cricket back at Bangalore. We didn’t see any cricket here, with most of the games taking place in Mumbai because of Covid19 rules. Obviously we had the huge break in play with the IPL hosted in the UAE prior to that too. It will be interesting to see do we see have the same conditions. Bangalore is usually one of, if not the highest, scoring IPL venue and it usually rains sixes here. They have done work to the drainage in recent years, so perhaps that might bring slower conditions maybe even a dry wicket but it’s hard to go into a game at Bangalore not expecting runs, especially if we get dew.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We should have a very even game here and it’s not a surprise that the market can’t make up its mind who to have as favourite. Given this is such a high scoring venue, I think it’s wise to keep stakes very low here before the off. Usually games at Bangalore are decided by conditions – if we get a heavy dew it can be possible to chase 230 here to be honest. Teams being able to name their side after the toss might be a huge factor at this ground. For my bet before the off, I’m on RCB at 1.95 or bigger. I just don’t fancy the Mumbai Indian bowling again this time around – Bumrah is a big loss and they lack quality spinners too. RCB can fire their way to victory with their star batters.

The Edge Says:
One point win Royal Challengers Bangalore to beat Mumbai Indians at 1.95 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Bangalore is usually very good for batting, and you generally don’t want to be looking for trades on the bowling side here. We haven’t had IPL cricket here for a while, so do go into this game with a more open mind than usual. Watch the first three overs, and let’s just confirm that conditions are the same. If you see any signs of dew, which usually falls around the tenth over in the first innings then you really want to support the batting side. The side batting first can finish very quickly here to post a score, but then chasing is easier with dew too. It might be raining sixes again!
