THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s IPL clash between Rajasthan Royals v Chennai Super Kings with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a top class clash at the IPL on Thursday on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Rajasthan Royals face the Chennai Super Kings. This would have been a top of the table clash but Gujarat Titans edged past Rajasthan Royals with a win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. The top three sides in the table look in excellent form at the early stage of the tournament, and you’d have to say both these sides have a great chance of making the playoffs. That’s a huge improvement for CSK who were one of the bottom sides last season!

For Rajasthan Royals, they do rely on Jos Buttler a lot and keeping him fit and healthy – plus in good form – will be very important to them. They’ve lost their last two after an excellent start, two reasonably close games against Lucknow Super Giants and RCB. The bowling didn’t fire against RCB and Buttler got a duck, but their loss against Lucknow Super Giants was exceptionally poor. To collapse and fail to chase down 154/7 from sitting at 87/0 before losing the first wicket was terrible for the middle order. They must be stronger after Buttler gives them a good start.

CSK really have that “feel good factor” at this IPL. MS Dhoni, the seemingly evergreen superstar, has even turned away grounds into home grounds for CSK. When CSK went to Bangalore there was more yellow than red! You can’t knock him, and he has CSK playing full of confidence at the moment. An interesting game awaits.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the second game at Jaipur, and the first game didn’t exactly tell us much in my opinion. Obviously there was a huge gap in IPL cricket here with Covid19 – I went back to the 2019 IPL stats here and saw the average score batting first was 163, and six of the seven games were won by the chasing side. Lucknow Super Giants scored 154/7 in their first innings, but Rajasthan Royals collapsed from 87/0 to end up losing by ten runs at 144/6. They definitely should have chased, and I would go into this game with the 2019 stats in mind, but at the same time let’s see what conditions are like – 2019 was a long time ago.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have a very even market here, and to be honest we might even see the favourites changing a few times before the start. I feel the toss will be an important factor in this game, and you’d definitely want to bowl first. I know Lucknow defended a score in the first game here, but Rajasthan should have won and the stats say chase. Rajasthan have an excellent side, but they do rely on Buttler a lot and MS Dhoni has this CSK side batting with so much confidence I like the CSK win at 1.98. I’m keeping stakes small in this one however, especially pre-off before we see the toss news.

The Edge Says:
One point win Chennai Super Kings to beat Rajasthan Royals at 1.98 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I wouldn’t be going into this game fully certain of a big edge for the chasing side, but there’s a lot to suggest that chasing is easier here. I know it didn’t work out in the first game here, and you have to accept there is a huge gap between now and 2019 too – however things were going to plan for a lot of the game before Rajasthan collapsed. That’s cricket! I feel the best edge here will be supporting the side who bowls first – the average score isn’t too high here and the score was reasonably low compared to other grounds too. Then after that, I would definitely favour the chasing side and let’s hope they get the job done this time!
