11 STRIKES: SIX DAYS IN A ROW: The sparks flew at Windsor last night as Daqman landed a winner a day for six consecutive days (11 strikes) in spectacular fashion, not intended. Sparks Fly won five lengths but it might have been 25 had he not hung badly, swerved across the track and dropped to a canter on the far rail.

INKLING FOR ARTISTIC

⭕ 7.15 Sandown Andrew Cooper, clerk of the course at Sandown, reports drying ground in Esher which will be a relief after their opening card of the Flat season was lost with the track waterlogged. The latest report is good to soft, good in places but I think we can work on the assumption of those ‘places’ being bigger come post time tonight.

If he’s pleased with the ground, Cooper surely is less thrilled by tonight’s entry. Just 33 runners contesting the six races which include the Listed Heron Stakes at 6.45. This is probably at the mercy of the Royal runner Slipofthepen who bids to remain unbeaten after two successes at nearby Kempton.

The novice event at 7.15 looks of interest pitting together two long term absentees in Royal Symbol (517 days) and Artistic Star (216) days who dominate the Betdaq Betting Exchange market.

The market was favouring the once raced Royal Symbol but even the magic of Charlie Appleby might be tested here and the 10st 8lbs will take some shouldering against his three-year-old rivals.

Preference is for Ralph Beckett’s Artistic Star who was unfancied when making a winning debut on soft at Nottingham last season and the form of that race has taken several boosts since. He also holds a couple of high profile future entries including the Derby no less.

IF NOT NOW NAP

⭕ 7.45 Sandown Just like yesterday with Sparks Fly – If Not Now just about creeps into my nap range at morning offers on Betdaq. I don’t think we’ll get the late plunge like yesterday though as despite this race just attracting just three – it remains competitive and will almost certainly be tactical.

If Not Now is probably open to the most improvement. Like my selection in the previous race he’s trained by Ralph Beckett and looks well thought of holding a Group 1 entry. After a winning debut at Salisbury he couldn’t follow up when favourite at Haydock but ran green that day and should know a bit more now.

Blue Universe is unproven on the turf and 5lb higher for winning by a head at Wolverhampton last time out whilst God Of Fire has improved on each start and the outsider of three could present the main danger.

⭕ 8.20 Sandown The finale looks tougher but the pick of the fillies here could be the only course and distance winner New Heights who is likely to be suited by both the return to the turf and also the drop down the handicap.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
