SUNDAY IN EUROPE: The Ultra previews Sunday’s games between ATLETICO MADRID v REAL SOCIEDAD and JUVENTUS v AC MILAN both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ATLETICO MADRID V REAL SOCIEDAD
6pm All eyes might be on the Premier League on Sunday for the final day, but we have some cracking games from La Liga and Serie A on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We have two matchdays left in La Liga, and as usual all the games kick off at the same time – however this weekend Sevilla were given an extra day to prepare for the Europa League Final so they play Real Madrid on Saturday – neither side can achieve anything anyway. We start the day in La Liga with Atletico Madrid hosting Real Sociedad. This looks the best quality fixture from the nine games, and Real Sociedad still need to confirm fourth spot. Getting Champions League football would be a huge success for Real Sociedad – the last time they managed to finish fourth was way back in 2012/13! They did win the Copa del Rey for the 2019/20 season during Covid19 which was actually played in 2021 because it was postponed during the pandemic. Atletico Madrid had been finishing the season like a train, but their momentum has slowed down recently with a loss away to Elche and a draw away to Espanyol – two sides who take up the bottom two places in the table!
Atletico conceded a massive xG of 4.29 against Espanyol. Not sure where that performance came from to be honest but they were all over the place. Over all their away performances have been impressive though – they sit in second behind Barcelona in the away form table, and they have Real Sociedad only one point behind them so there’s no worries about the Real Sociedad away form. This should be a high quality game, and Atletico Madrid come into the game as favourites at 2.2 with Real Sociedad 3.75 and the draw is 3.55 at the time of writing. We usually see action in this fixture with both teams scoring in five of their last six meetings. Although the game finished 1-1 when the sides met earlier in the season, we had a lot more chances than the score line suggested. Atletico have been banging in the goals for fun to finish the season, but they have been leaking goals. That would make you lean towards Over 2.5 goals at 1.97 but Real Sociedad like to keep games tight. Instead of Over 2.5 goals, I like Both Teams To Score at 1.8.

JUVENTUS V AC MILAN
7.45pm We move over to Serie A to finish the evening with a cracking fixture as Juventus host AC Milan. It’s been another week of huge drama around Juventus – they got a ten point deduction after an investigation into their transfer dealings. Previously they got a 15 points deduction but that was overturned on appeal and now they find themselves with a ten point deduction. That has caused big change in the top four race again! Juventus looked certain for a top four finish, then dropped down to mid-table, then certain for a top four finish and now they are back out of the European spots. It’s been a disappointing few weeks for Juventus who crashed out of the Europa League at the Semi-Final stage as well. Juventus’ woes are good news for AC Milan – without kicking a ball they moved back into the top four and they started the weekend with a three point advantage over Atalanta sitting in fifth. Atalanta actually have a better goal difference than AC Milan at the start of the weekend, so AC Milan still have work to do to finish the season – this is a huge game for them. Not only can they not afford to lose, they simply can’t ship too many goals given the goal difference situation (if they lose). You have to say it’s been a fantastic season in Serie A – we’ve had plenty of drama in the top four battle and it’s been a great story with Napoli winning the title after so long.
We have an open betting heat here, and Juventus come into the game as the favourites with home advantage. They are currently trading 2.48, with AC Milan 3.2 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. Juventus have been very impressive at home this season – they have the same amount of points as Napoli from the same amount of home games, and we all know how easily Napoli have won the title! AC Milan finally got back to winning ways last weekend against Sampdoria, but they have been the worst side in Serie A this season and prior to that they had dropped a lot of points, including losing twice to Inter Milan in the Champions League Semi-Final. Most of the average AC Milan performances have come away from home too – they sit in mid-table on the away form table. I’m going to keep stakes reasonably limited here, but given the strong form from Juventus this season they can get the job done here against an AC Milan side not finishing the season strongly.
