SEE HOW THEY WON: Only a superb ride by Ryan Moore, tucking in behind instead of racing wide, won for the 12 stall (the gamble, Aloft in 2015) and, of course, Stradivarius, didn’t get a clear run from 9 and had to be switched to win, and win he did (2017).

DRAW: Three winners in a row had come out of stalls 22, 24 and 20 until the one stall won it two years ago and gate 2 followed up last season. Extremes of the draw, then!

PYLING ON THE PRESSURE
⭕ 2.40 Haydock An interesting novice event which brings together the unbeaten fillies Truthful and Shagpyle who should dominate the race like the Betdaq Betting Exchange market suggests.
Truthful came out best in a bunch finish at Salisbury beating the favourite Mantoog by a head. The runner-up didn’t really give that form much of a boost when she ran at Chelmsford next time out finishing fifth in an admittedly better race.
I prefer the potential of Shagpyle who won very smartly on debut at Ascot when it was soft. We need to take an educated guess that she will be equally as effective on the faster ground but she’s a half sister to the high class Pyledriver who won the King George at Ascot for the same connections on good to firm!
The three other runners are by no means out of it if the front two don’t make the expected improvement and best of the rest could be Montevideo from the Charlie Johnston yard that sent out five winners from four different tracks yesterday.
FOURTH AW WIN FOR FOUR?
⭕ 6.40 Kempton Four Adaay seems to reserve her best form for the all-weather these days (3 from 6) and was a course and distance winner here last month.
The handicapper has given her a chance of following up off just a 3lb higher mark. She was a beaten favourite last time out at Bath but ran much too freely and that effort is probably best put down to a a bad day at the office.
Hello Me is the obvious danger if the first time applied visor conjures some improvement.
COLLECT ON REFUGE
⭕ 8.25 Hamilton Market leader Newyorkstateofmind is only 1-34 on the all-weather and Ruth Carr’s runners are not in the best of form.
The percentage play might be Refuge who is a four time winner over course and distance and this might just be an easier opening than his run here at the end of last month when he finished third.
