PINS AND NEEDLES FOR DAQMAN! Race-by-race results for the best of Daqman yesterday: 3123. The short-head defeat of Popmaster at 12.5 on BETDAQ (2nd 6-1 SP) was a tough act to follow on the turntable of luck but Juan Les Pins had already cleared the decks at 5.4 (WON 3-1).

ASCOT COUNTDOWN CONTINUED: Three more Fortune Cookies and a Thoroughbred Toff are named by Daqman today as he checks the stats for Friday next cards at Royal Ascot.

CHARLIE APPLEBY STRIKES FORM

⭕ 2.40 Sandown today Trainers like to hit stride on the eve of Royal Ascot and Charlie Appleby has recorded 1113022114 in the last week, including two juvenile winners.

His sole runner until Sunday, is Inner City, a Dubawi, of course; he was all the rage on his 2yo debut but needed the run, and now reappears in a race Appleby has taken twice in recent years.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 2.25 Inner City

⭕ 3.00 York (6f class-2 fillies handicap) I followed Pink Crystal into place after place after her class 4 and 5 double last summer.

She has won when fresh, takes on her own sex here and is well drawn on a track where William Haggas likes to win. She is up a stone for second and third at Listed level.

Haggas is on a hat-trick in the race after two winners at the end of yesterday and, six-shooting today at Chepstow, Sandown and York, could repeat his treble of only the day before across the cards at Haydock and Yarmouth.

Gale Force Maya, who won this last year by a length, giving 19lb to the runner-up, Crazy Luck, narrowly beat Pink Crystal (then aged three) in the autumn, giving her 5lb.

That gives Pink Crystal the edge by about 4lb and the three-year-olds are likely a bigger worry.

BETDAQ value 3.3

⭕ 3.15 Sandown (1m 2f handicap) STATS: Four-year-olds have won 7-9 and stalls 1 to 4 have also won 7-9.

The stats vote for Youthful King, a CD winner last July in back-to-back wins, which he will endeavour to repeat after scoring 11 days ago.

Sweet Reward, Lord Protector and Fast Steps are all well drawn and CD winners here.

The track should suit right-hand-leaning Crystal Delight, if he can make his way across from gate 10, and Nobel may improve for his wind op.

BETDAQ value 7.9 Youthful King

A BRILLIANT START EXPECTED

⭕ 4.15 Cork Brilliant by name brilliant by nature is the word from Ballydoyle for this Gleneagles half-sister to Alcohol Free, winner first time out as a two-year-old and on to Cheveley Park success, ahead of another early-season blitz as a three-year-old, taking the Fred Darling and Coronation Stakes.

Let’s not get too far ahead of our selves. Brilliant is Group-2 entered in two weeks’ time so we guess and calculate that she will launch successfully today. Mysteries may need further on breeding.

BETDAQ value 3.65 Brilliant

⭕ 6.35 Cork (Munster Oaks) Draw: Low numbers are best except on soft ground, and the sound surface seems to side with Paddy Twomey’s winner last year, Rosscarberry (stall 3), rather than Final Gesture.

Only Aidan O’Brien (5-9 in this race) has won it with a three-year-old in the decade; in fact, four of his five were three-year-olds.

Lambada looks best of his, as still green when pitched into the Musidora at York; a Dubawi out of a sister to an Oaks winner (who was out of a half-sister to Galileo). BETDAQ value 10.0.
