22 MEETINGS IN A LONG WEEKEND: Today starts three days of 17 meetings in England and five in Ireland, Thursday to Saturday, before a quiet Sunday followed by the opening of the Galway Festival on Monday and Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday. We’ll be with you, winner finding, all the way.

DRAW FAVOURS SERA DAWN

⭕ 2.10 Sandown The year 2016 can give us a couple of clues to this sprint. An 11-year-old won it that year after six successive defeats and never won again in 29 starts.

Just Glamorous is still able to bounce back after a break, as he did at Salisbury last month but, at age 10, is unlikely to put two wins together; last time he backed up was in July 2016.

He’s giving six or seven years away to most of his opponents today and may have to contend with cut in the ground, not the firm of his Salisbury success.

Handicapped only 4lb behind him, though only three, the filly Sera Dawn did put two wins together only this April, both with cut in the ground. Claimed off, she gets 11lb from Just Glamorous and starts from stall 4. Every winner of this in nine years has come out of 2, 3 or 4.

Libra Tiger (in 2) has not won since breaking his maiden 11 starts back, always a bad sign, with his ability and willingness – or rather, lack of – further revealed in his four seconds from the last five outings. His worst form is with cut in the ground.

Both Libra Tiger (1-15) and Dalby Forest (also 1-15) have yet to win on turf, and so much seems to be right for a Sera Dawn today.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.5 Sera Dawn

DON’T BE SHY OF BETDAQ 5.6

⭕ 7.00 Yarmouth Farrh To Shy (BETDAQ 5.6) won over a mile in better class but a slow time at Ascot on the soft after leading over a furlong out.

She was 20-1 that day after her trainer insisted her forte was a strong pace over 7f.

Nothing from the Ascot mile field gave strength to the form but, now dropped back to the 7f, and the only CD winner in the field, she is expected to get the soft ground again.

Able Kane is a once-a-year winner who scored last month; Adeb has won only on Tapeta since 2021; Ramiro’s form is over shorter.

Helm Rock probably needs to shed another couple of pounds; Waiting All Night hasn’t won in 12 starts since his maiden, always a bad sign.

TIGER’S FORM LOOKS GOOD

⭕ 8.30 Yarmouth After yesterday’s Lion, I’m backing a Tiger. Like A Tiger (BETDAQ 4.2) was runner-up in a hot race on soft in the autumn to Derby seventh, Artistic Star, and opened the scoring immediately in the Spring over 1m 2f, again with cut in the ground.

His defeat at Newmarket in a Listed was disappointing until it was later appreciated that the one-two were a Group-3 winner and Group-2 fourth.

Cumulonimbus (BETDAQ 5.3), not disgraced when third in the Old Newton Cup, which was a hat-trick bid, will be hard to beat, dropped back a quarter-mile, with Frankie Dettori booked.

Others have lower-class form but what to make of Eagle’s Way? Four in a row (all on a sound surface) in the manner of a burgeoning Sir Mark Prescott sort but up a total of 29lb and not seen since September.

DO THE NEWBURY FANDANGO

⭕ 7.45 Newbury The top riders have shunned Newbury tonight which lets in the deputy dawgs and highlights opportunity for the claimers such as Kaiya Fraser, who rode his first winner only 20 months ago.

The Hackney-born youngster, who started out in a scheme for inner-city stable volunteers, is now looking for winner number 24, as he partners the only CD winner in this two-miler, Tin Fandango. BETDAQ 5.6.

Cinnodin steps up to 2m for the first time, described by trainer Richard Hughes as ‘an out-and-out stayer.’
