ELECTRIC DEAUVILLE TRIAL WIN: An electric Impact at Deauville yesterday sets up the Arc de Triomphe favourite at a value ante-post price on BETDAQ, says Daqman. Ace Impact’s victory was winner number 20 in the Flat season for FORTUNE COOKIES.

THREE BETS FROM SALISBURY: Daqman sticks at Salisbury today for three bets including in both the Listed races.

ACE ARC VALUE IN BETDAQ BOOK

JUST a walk in the park. Ace Impact was put to sleep at Deauville yesterday, jockey Cristian Demuro sitting still until the straight, as if he could climb off and put the divots back before bothering to make his charge.

When he did so, he cut the grass out wide like an equine mowing-machine, running round the top-class field and bursting clear.

It was a slow time and his performance was said to be ‘workmanlike’ by the Raceform race-reader but, when the winner’s pacemaker, Cambronne, came back to them, there was nil response from Aidan O’Brien’s number one, Victoria Road (Ryan Moore), and his number two, Greenland (Maxime Guyon), had lost his position in the back straight after making up ground from an awkward start.

There was really nothing left to make a race of it except Al Riffa (Joseph O’Brien), who finished well when the race was over, and clearly has a big future.

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget said afterwards that Ace Impact could still go for the Irish Champion Stakes (September 9), though he wouldn’t want to leave the Arc behind at Leopardstown.

An easy win there and he would certainly leave behind his value 5.5 for the Arc in the BETDAQ Sportsbook this morning!

LEGEND OF STONEHENGE

⭕ 3.20 Salisbury (Stonehenge Listed) This looks a really good renewal and likely to throw up plenty of future clues.

In terms of today’s winner we haven’t got too much form to work with. Arabic Legend and Arabian Crown have been flip-flopping all morning at the top of the Betdaq Betting Exchange market.

Narrow preference is for the Newmarket maiden winner Arabic Legend who beat Emperor’s Star readily and has some fancy future entries. The caveat being the horse he beat at Sandown Emperor’s Star let the form down next time out at Sandown but it came on heavy ground so that line of thought might well be spurious.

Charlie Appleby has won the last two runnings of this, so on that alone his runner Arabian Crown has to be respected. This one followed up on his debut Sandown third with a win when returning to the Esher track last month where he justified favouritism in good fashion. It was soft that day so he needs to prove himself equally as adept on the quicker surface.

Others of interest are Spanish Poet, another Sandown winner (on heavy ground), and Son who has much more experience but plenty of class too judged on his close up fifth in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time out.

RUNNING AWAY FROM LION

⭕ 4.30 Salisbury (Upavon Listed) The second Listed race on the card is stronger numerically but also looks a lot harder to solve.

The morning market was revolving around Running Lion who notched up a sequence of four wins in a row before her well below effort in the French Oaks where she finished last of the 15 runners. I’ve no problem forgiving a horse a bad run and hoping for a bounce-back – I’m just less inclined to do so when they are heading the market.

I’ll side with Caernarfon who is officially the best filly in the race on a rating of 111 and deserves a win after some creditable efforts at the top table including last time out when beaten less than three lengths in the Group 1 Nassau at Goodwood.

The current form of her trainer Jack Channon is also a big positive – the Lambourn handler sending out five winners from his last 22 runners.

THE FEAR FACTOR

⭕ 5.00 Salisbury Always Fearless scored in nice style here last week and can defy both the 5lb penalty and also the step-up in trip.

He was staying on really well over the mile suggesting the extra two furlongs here should now be worth another try over.

The filly Cheers Babe showed a lot more at Lingfield last time out and looks the biggest danger in a competitive finale.
