TOWER OF STRENGTH IN LEGER MARKET: Tower Of London, Daqman’s 26.0 ante-post bet on the St Leger, was the plunge horse this morning, down to 7-1 with bookmakers and 8.8 on BETDAQ, where the 25-1 was taken. See ⬇️ He’s Brother To A Leger Winner.

DAQ MULTIPLES ON THE PORTLAND: Daqman takes 9.9 and 28.0 offers on BETDAQ in the Portland, and goes for long-odds doubles on the day. See ⬇️ Royal Runner Plot.

HE’S BROTHER TO A LEGER WINNER

⭕ 3.35 Doncaster (St Leger): FORM and Ratings guide: see Thursday Daqman: Daqman fans Towering 25-1.

In the good old bad old days, this morning’s first job would be to search for my ante-post vouchers but, in this electronic age, I can scroll to my BETDAQ account and let the screen glow the good news over my breakfast table.

I decided that hedging, laying and otherwise trying to farm the ‘overs’ of my 26.0 Tower Of London would be a distraction to my Portland Handicap research.

Once I’d decided to ‘stick’, I added a joker, and got well carried away with a Leger-Portland double.

What else are autumn races for, if not for an unwise flutter, as long as your stakes are under control.

Weekdays making profit from three tips or so on a staking plan has been the great discipline of Daqman’s successful season, leaving the weekends for a tilt at the layers.

Firm ground was blamed for the defeat of Derby favourite, Arrest, at Epsom and Ascot, and Town Moor should be riding easy enough today for him to restore his place in the 2023 Classic ranks.

Frankie Dettori narrowly prefers him to Queens Vase winner Gregory to whom he gave a cowboy ride in the Great Voltigeur.

And Ryan Moore was said to be dithering between Continuous and the stable’s improver, Tower Of London. He’s gone for the Great Voltigeur winner but Tower Of London seems guaranteed to get the trip, as brother to a previous St Leger winner from the same yard, the grey Capri (2017), who scored on good-to-soft.

Desert Hero beat Chesspiece a neck at Goodwood after that one was slammed five lengths and more by Gregory in the Queens Vase, form which isn’t quite Classic standard.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.4 Arrest and 4 Continuous are 4-5lb better than the rest on the book, but it was only 8.8 the improver Tower Of London this morning (26.0 taken ante-post). That’s my first three.

THE SHOE FITS BLUESTOCKING

⭕ 2.05 Chester (1m 4f Listed): Andrew Balding turned over the favourite in this last year but that favourite was from his own stable!

This time around his Sea of Roses seemingly has to make up only a length and a half on hot-pot Bluestocking on Ribblesdale form at Royal Ascot. But Sea of Roses has won only her maiden, always a bad sign.

This hardly applies to Bluestocking, who had just the one winning run last year, and has this term been beaten only a head by Warm Heart and half a length by Savethelastdance, who are the best of their generation in England and Ireland.

Al Qareem, who won a Group 2 in France last season, has to bounce back after a disappointing start to the year. Even at his best, it would be a tough task to give 12lb to Bluestocking.

PORTLAND: ROYAL RUNNER PLOT

⭕ 2.25 Doncaster (Portland Handicap, 5.5f): Call Me Ginger won this last year (on a disqualification) on soft ground, with Makanah 6th, Significantly 7th, and Dakota Gold 9th.

Makanah comes out best at the revised weights and went very close in a big field handicap at York on firm last month, so no worries what the ground has in store for him today, and he could be best of the high numbers (stall 18).

Call Me Ginger is also in form, claimed off by his Ascot-winning rider of last year, but he has to complete the hat-trick in just 14 days.

Kings Lynn, from stall 5, adjacent to Call Me Ginger (4), was a Listed winner over the Doncaster CD last autumn.

He’s dropped half a stone and will be well prepared as support act to the King and Queen’s St Leger bid with Desert Hero. Oisin Murphy, who takes over in the royal colours today, has also won a Listed on him.

Aberama Gold (14) has been in great form but the handicapper might just have him now he’s on the 100 mark.

Jessica Harrington’s Irish raider, Hurricane Ivor (15) won this race for William Haggas off 102 in 2021 (good to soft) and was a plunge horse with bookies when today’s decs were revealed.

BETDAQ value: 9.9 Kings Lynn and 28.0 Hurricane Ivor

12.0 WISPER BIG BETDAQ VALUE

⭕ 2.40 Chester (Class-3 handicap, 1m 2.5f): John Quinn and Jason Hart had a winner and second here yesterday and First Impression was a CD winner the last day but this is a step up in grade.

Last time he tried a better race, he was beaten six lengths by Baryshnikov, though in receipt of 2lb.

Three times a CD winner here, Baryshnikov likes to come from behind so his low draw may not be the bonus it seems to be. He still needs to find daylight.

The race looks ready-made for Box To Box, as a front-runner. But he has to get across to the rail from stall 10 and he’s 7lb worse off with Spirit Dancer, despite coming out second best in their one-two at York.

Spirit Dancer is more than a stone higher now after completing a hat-trick. So Barishnykov’s main rival may be Wisper, who has a high strike-rate on turning tracks.

BETDAQ value 12.0 Wisper, 5.9 Barishnykov

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
