MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Cricket World Cup has been turned on its head this week, and favourite backers on BETDAQ Betting Exchange will be hoping India come good as they meet Bangladesh on Thursday. The setbacks for the favourites started on Sunday with Afghanistan beating England and then we had the biggest shock of all on Tuesday as the Netherlands beat South Africa. Another heart breaking defeat for South Africa at the hands of the Netherlands at the global tournament as they also lost to them at the T20 World Cup. Things are changing by the day; Australia looked in trouble after losing to South Africa, England after losing to Afghanistan but that South African loss just opens things wide open again.
Quietly in the background at the moment, India are just doing their job and ticking wins off nicely. They are three from three, including wins over Australia and Pakistan already. On paper this should be an easy win for the home side, and they are trading as short as 1.13 at the time of writing. Don’t forget, England were more or less the same price against Afghanistan! It’s hard to see an upset here though; India are just so strong at home.
Bangladesh will be able to handle conditions which is something you couldn’t say about Australia when they met India. However, there’s a huge gulf in class between the sides and India come into the game in an excellent place. Their batting and bowling is firing, and it’s hard to see another upset.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This will be the 17th match at the World Cup, but it will be the 1st at Pune. This ground will host five ODI’s throughout the tournament and most cricket fans will know the ground well from the IPL. Conditions will be a little different here though as we start during the day. All eyes will be on the crowd too; we’ve had a lot of empty stadiums so far and it hasn’t been a good look for the BCCI who appear to have messed up the ticketing system. We haven’t had an ODI here since 2021 when England played; we had three games here then and the first inning scores were 317/5 (won), 336/6 (chased) and 329 all out (won). High scoring conditions are expected again.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I said above that it’s hard to see past an Indian win here, and they are trading as short as 1.13. It’s a very confident market and who could blame it with India seemingly in superb form. Everything is working well at the moment, and it’s hard to see how Bangladesh are able to deal with that. They have played good cricket at times during the World Cup, but they have come up well short when they have faced the better sides. They face the world’s best in home conditions here, but I’m not going to recommend a 1.13 shot. I would back India if they hit 1.25 in-running.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
The in-running strategy will mainly focus on getting on India at the right moment. If they bat first I would expect a 1.01 train with a very high score; probably north of 350. If they bowl first, we might actually get a bigger price – scoring conditions should be quite good here and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bangladesh post around 300. India should chase that down, but we might get 1.25 in-running if that is the case. The England series was very high scoring here, and the wicket will be at its best in the first game hosted here.
