DRAMA OF 12.5 PLACE WIN: Daqman got back on track yesterday after a dismal Saturday, following 10 wins in six days, including Lilkian (13.0 on BETDAQ) and Secret Satire at 16-1. He opposed another favourite, Hitman (last of 11 at 7-2) and his win-50 nap in the same race, Minella Drama, led at Aintree until headed after the last.

ENERGY FOR THE AUTUMN CUP
WHAT to take out of the two-day Cheltenham meeting for an early-bird bet at the festival? It’s a traditional Daqman tilt at the layers, based on the evidence that at least one winner at the weekend goes on to score in March.
Last year, he followed trainer Gordon Elliott’s own bet, he took 66-1 about Chemical Energy for the National Hunt Chase with the intent of going to Aintree for the Grand National. It’s a well-worn and successful strategy by the king of Cullentra House.
Chicago Grey won the 2011 NH Chase, ridden by Derek O’Connor. Brought down under Paul Carberry in the Aintree National of 2012.
Cause Of Causes won 2015 NH Chase, ridden by Jamie Codd. Subsequent Kim Muir winner at Cheltenham 2016 and second in the Grand National.
Tiger Roll won 2017 NH Chase, ridden by Lisa O’Neill. Takes the cross country path to Aintree, with a hat-trick at Cheltenham and the Grand National under Davy Russell, back to back.
Ravenhill won 2020 NH Chase, ridden by Jamie Codd. Pulled up in the 2021 Grand National.
Chemical Energy 2023. Second 2023 NH Chase; pulled up injured in the Irish Grand National.
Back to the track, sixth in the Kerry National in September and new target is the Autumn Gold Cup at Cheltenham on November 18; being quoted at 20-1.
Salvador Ziggy I shall take some 20-1 Chemical Energy for that race and also 8.8 on BETDAQ the same stable’s Salvador Ziggy as an opener to my personal NH Chase book in March. He was runner-up in that Kerry National in September.
Dancing On My Own From Cheltenham at the weekend, I shall nominate Dancing On My Own (Henry De Bromhead) for the Festival, after the drubbing he gave better-backed horses in the handicap chase on Saturday.
HE’S STREETS AHEAD
⭕ 3.25 Galway It’s a three on, three off Monday with Leicester, Redcar and Wexford all called off because of the weather.
Galway must be on the edge too with heavy ground and more rain forecast but fingers crossed it gets the go-ahead as the conditions should suit Granville Street in the mile and half handicap against the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market leader Immutable who has a stamina doubt.
Granville Street was a course, distance AND going runner-up here and off a 2lb lower mark might just need to simply reproduce that effort.
He didn’t show much at Tipperary earlier in the month when switched back to hurdles but I can readily dismiss his last of six in what was a Grade 3 event after all.
Immutable pulls hard in his races and will surely need to settle better. He struggled in the closing stages over a short trip last time and despite that has been shoved up a pound by the handicapper.
SALUTE THE GENERAL
⭕ 3.35 Huntingdon General Medrano strikes me as just the sort to run up an early season sequence before the handicapper spoils the fun.
He had plenty of ability over hurdles and if anything improved on that on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter when scoring with a ton in hand (officially 9 lengths) so should be able to shrug off the 7lb rise in the weights in this company.
Another positive is the current form of his trainer Emma Lavelle – 5 winners from her last 16 runners!
⭕ 6.00 Newcastle Amayretto gets the nod for the final bet of the day. She brings by far the most experience to the table and has run some good races in better races than this too including in a class 4 at York.
A winner at Redcar two starts ago, she also proved equally adept on the all-weather here on her only start when finishing a head second and she appeals far more than the lightly raced types who, so far at least, have yet to show much,.
