ANOTHER GREAT FLAT SEASON ENDS: Daqman celebrates another great Flat season which ended on Saturday, with a big-race double at Aintree and Wincanton launching him into the Jumps.

His finale double yesterday showed the way to the new Jumps season by landing two feature chases, the Grand Sefton worth ÂŁ51,000 to the winner and the Badger Beer Chase, worth ÂŁ41,608. To Daqman followers they were worth 70 points.

HERE’S A BELTER FOR McMANUS
â• 2.00 Naas (Brown Lad Handicap Hurdle) Summerville Boy holds up the field with 11st 12lb, which shows off his worth under Henry de Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore.
But winning with such a weight and the 144 rating it represents would be a new high for this 2m 4f Listed, especially for an 11-year-old!
And it leaves four of the acceptors 2lb and 3lb out of the handicap: Lord Erskine, Must Meet Cecil, The Lovely Man and The West Awake.
Only one favourite has scored in the decade yet eight of the 10 were between 7-2 and 10-1 at SP, by no means friendless, well indicated by market movement.
Mark Walsh has ridden five of the winners in the last nine seasons but success for his mount today, Common Practice, a J P McManus four-year-old, would be another rare event and I can’t make him my main bet.
Not to worry, J.P. The McManus colours are also carried by Ballybawn Belter, who is not used to soft ground but she is so used to winning that her rating has been hiked 24lb since her run of 10101 started in February and took in success at 15.5f, 22f and 24f.
Her most recent strikes at Punchestown and Ballinrobe have come under today’s pilot, Charlie O’Dwyer, who claims 5lb.which, in effect, gives her a quality rating of 15lb and more over the lightweights yet 19lb in hand of the topweight.

NICHOLLS HAS FAITH IN HENRI
LIKE the Premier League manager that he is to racing, Paul Nicholls yesterday put on the style with a four-timer in front of his home crowd at Wincanton.
It was a lesson in the arts of training and placing horses to win. That’s his job and he never loses his enthusiasm for it.
If he tells you a horse is a good’un, all you need then is his patience because he spots them in their work at, sometimes, a very early stage.
â• 1.05 Sandown Henri The Second is only six but a big, strong horse and Nicholls forecasts a bright future for his half-brother to the stayer, Enrilo.
Significantly, he brings Henri back to Sandown for his chasing debut, the track where he won a Grade 2 as a novice hurdler last December.
Both the Nicholls hope and his main rival, Blow Your Wad, could do with deeper ground and they have to take on the good ground winner over fences already, Le Patron.
Le Patron is trained by Gary Moore, who loves to see his protegees swinging round the downhill turn at Sandown Park, but they also have to jump a staccato sequence of fences along the back, for which Henri The Second may be better suited.
JET PROPELLED INTO CHASING
â• 2.15 Sandown Jetronic is an even younger Nicholls chaser, only four but already a winner over fences in France and given a baptism of fire, put straight over the Cheltenham fences last month.
Gary Moore is in opposition again, his In The Air second on his chasing debut at Huntingdon.
â• 2.50 Sandown Like master like pupil; Harry Derham is the latest trainer with star potential to come out of Ditcheat and, like his mentor Nicholls, he has a four-year-old taking on older horses in this.
Like Nicholls again, Derham has quickly applied wind surgery to freeing up Fourofakind’s oxygen intake for the finish.
He takes on Nicholls (Iliko d’Olivate) and Gary Moore (Jupiter Du Gite), but they have to give him lumps of weight. BETDAQ value 7.9 Fourofakind
