SUPREME DAQMAN STRIKES AGAIN: Daqman has found a couple of gifts in the last two days, a 7-4 nap winning by nearly 10 lengths and a 17-2 strike in a four-horse race. A silly situation today where seven races at the two main meetings have five or fewer runners. Daqman’s message to racing’s rulers: That’s a gift to those who want to crack down on betting!

Friday
WON 17-2 SUPREME GIFT

Thursday
WON 7-4 THE SAME (nap)

🔢 Current score: Daqman 4, Pricewise 1. Daqman leads by 119 points.

EQUINOX COULD EARN £5m IN JAPAN: Set the alarm; no Sunday lie-in! At 6.40 a.m.tomorrow horse-of-the-year Equinox and another Daqman Fortune Cookie, Iresine, go for the £3m-to-the-winner Japan Cup, with Equinox in line for a £2m bonus as winner of the Sheema Classic.

KAMSINAS FORM SINCE BOOSTED

⭕ 12.05 Haydock Henry Daly produced Supreme Gift for Daqman yesterday at 17-2 in a four-horse race. There are plenty of small-field races today, more’s the pity, but rarely a bargain like that.

Three races here have five or fewer runners and four at Ascot, where only one event has a straight-eight for place betting. Ridiculous.

Daly has another solid chance in this opening novices’ hurdle with Bowenspark, after a classy looking debut over the sticks at Stratford, unofficially rated around 126.

But Kamsinas has an official 128, after winning at Worcester and running second in a Grade-2 novices to Lookaway, who was a 122 at the time but was hiked to 132.

That looked more than justified when Lookaway ran second to Iberico Lord in the Greatwood, clear of Luccia and Sonigino, who were 136 and 137 respectively at the time. I’ve asked for 3.0 Kamsinas.

⭕ 12.55 Ascot Farnoge was ‘very professional’ when winning his bumper at Uttoxeter in March and hit the ground running on his return, taking a Newton Abbot novice hurdle from the front in October.

Farnoge can force the first smile from Harry Cobden, who misses the Haydock return of Bravemansgame. A 3.5 offer on BETDAQ this morning, and – as you’ll see – I think Cobden will be smiling all day!

ALL UP HILL FOR IRISH RAIDERS

⭕ 1.15 Haydock Young blood wins this 2m 3f handicap hurdle, with just one winner in the decade older than six.

As you’d expect, and as you see today, the older horses were exposed, highish up in the handicap, and just one winner carried more than 11st 3lb.

Park Hill Dancer set up a hat-trick for his first run back, with a double in May at class-4 level at Huntingdon and Uttoxeter, whereas Fingal’s Hill completed his hat-trick and made it a four-timer on his return, climbing the grades, shrugging off a 16lb overall rise: BETDAQ 7.6

There’s a pincer movement here by Northern Ireland trainer Stuart Crawford, who has booked Daryl Jacob for Carnfunnock and claims off the year younger Park Annonciade, so 19lb lower down the handicap.

Will it be soft enough for the stayer Carnfunnock; will it be dry enough for dual two-mile winner, Park Annonciade? Therein lies the Crawford Plan!

PIC HARRY: HE’S HERE FOR THIS

⭕ 1.30 Ascot Harry on Pic D’Orhy, rated 162, meets the 173-rated Shishkin, who swerves the Lancashire Chase clash with Bravemansgame and is a not very backable 1.61.

Can Paul Nicholls catch Shishkin out with Cobden on Pic D’Orhy 11lb inferior? ‘That’s what Harry’s here for,’ says Nicholls; ‘I’ve trained Pic D’Orhy to the minute to close the gap or beat him.’ Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.8.

⭕ 2.05 Ascot Hurdle Cobden also rides Blueking D’Oroux, winner at Ascot already, runner-up in a big-feld novices hurdle at the Grand National meeting at Aintree, and a Cheltenham class-2 winner on his return in October.

It’s 5.5 the improver to beat the enigmatic Goshen. But, again, it’s a case of Nicholls the giant-killer; would he ruin Blueking’s handicap mark just to get closer?

PUT THIS PUNT ON THE SLATE!

⭕ 2.20 Haydock Fifteen runners in a stayer’s hurdle; why that’s nearly enough for a racecard! It’s clearly what the trainers want and what the punters want.

Betdaq Betting Exchange offers add up to only 114% (no commission for new customers) and range from 4.6 to any price up to 66.0 for runners which are friendless but, since this is a handicap, not out of it!

That’s big value overall but is there individual value in particular somewhere in the field?

Let me apply LAYS LOGIC right away: there has been no winning favourite in the decade, no SP shorter than 4-1, though winners have included names like subsequent Long Walk star Sam Spinner and Paisley Park, who struck NINE times in Graded hurdles.

Seven winners were aged five or six and only one carried more than 11st 7lb, which seems to leave five with outstanding claims, but with Crambo coming out of the form well.

Slate Lane is unbeaten over trips around today’s 3m and on good to soft ground since joining Emmet Mullins. He’s bred for a class career, hurdles and chases. It’s mainly good to soft on the hurdles course today, soft over fences. BETDAQ 6.0.

Fine Margin What’s a maiden doing in this? He’s trained by Willie Mullins, that’s what!

Lord Snootie Hidden horse at BETDAQ 13.0. This race carefully plotted by capable connections after his good run in a big-field Punchestown hurdle.

Goshhowposh I say chaps, an upwardly mobile Exeter winner! He’s 16.0.

Santos Blue Rider dropped whip when second to today’s 4.2 favourite, Crambo. Can he close the gap, claimed off 7lb? BETDAQ 18.5 offers say he can’t.

RAMBLER’S BIG ON BETDAQ: 14.0

⭕ 3.00 Haydock (Lancashire Chase) This is not as far as the Gold Cup distance which saw Bravemansgame fade in the final furlong.

Short of peak when outgunned on his reappearance, giving 6lb to Gentlemansgame in the Charlie Hall.

Protektorat, fifth in the Gold Cup to Galopin Des Champs, won this Lancashire Chase last year on soft, giving him form figures of 121 at the start of his last three seasons.

Corach Rambler, Grand National hero, has taken the 3m 1f Ultima twice and, if you consider that he beat Fastorslow in this year’s Ultima, and Fastorslow held Galopin des Champs and Bravemansgame in the Punchestown Gold Cup, he is far too big at 14.0.

Royale Pagaille, second in this race in 2021 to a subsequent Gold Cup winner, A Plus Tard, then won the Peter Marsh and is 4-5 at Haydock, though usually slow to be wound up.

BELIEVE IN CREDO AT BETDAQ 8.9

⭕ 3.35 Haydock Another race usually not won by the favourite, not won by an outsider, not won by the leading trainers.

I was going ‘ladies first’ but in-form Venetia Williams has Eleanor Bob returning from 626 days off and I can’t hold Lucinda Russell’s Haute Estime in the highest esteem, the mare’s chasing score being just 1-7.

Has the handicapper finally nailed another mare, Credo, 107 when she started winning a year ago and now on 130? Maybe not in this company, so 8.9 on BETDAQ is tempting.

Famous Bridge, favourite in the late Trevor Hemmings colours, impressed in the Spring over the tough Wetherby fences.

Bali Body has had two long absences in his career and his sole success over fences has been in an amateur jockeys’ race, run in slow time at Sandown despite the good ground.

Sidi Ismael (17.0 offers) has won the last twice on his return from the break; has had a third wind op in the close season.
