DAQMAN POWERS TO NAPS DOUBLE: Daqman doubled down on his search for some spending money on the Lincoln with back-to-back winners for his Tuesday-Wednesday naps through Lady Of Spain (WON 8-13), a BETDAQ bet at 10-11, and yesterday Double Powerful (WON 5-4).

FOCUS ON THE START OF THE FLAT: Daqman yesterday took you through stats and facts about the first day of the Flat on Saturday. Now he turns to the Sunday card at Doncaster, before his Lincoln guide tomorrow.

FLAT CAP THURSDAY: Daqman has his flat hat on today too with three selections from tonight’s all-weather card at Southwell.

DONCASTER: LET’S DO IT AGAIN!

IF the plan works, do it again! On both Saturday and Sunday at Doncaster, trainers plot to follow up on last year’s success.

SATURDAY card winners in 2023 likely to go for a repeat are Astral Beau (1.20), Harswell Duke (2.25) and Migration (3.35 Lincoln Handicap).

SUNDAY (details below): Clansman (1.20), Aleezdancer (3.05), Bucephalus (3.40) and Little Muddy (4.50).

⭕ 1.20 Doncaster, Sunday (1m 4f handicap for amateur jockeys) Just two winning outright favourites in the decade, but a likely crack at back-to-back wins for Liam Bailey’s Clansman.

Clansman was winning first time out for the second successive season and is just 2lb higher, but the 2023 runner-up, Captain Haddock, could start 3lb better off to avenge a three-parts-of-a-length defeat.

Two Brothers, fourth that day, could now be lumbered with topweight. Check out declared runners and don’t just read the form; read the mind of the trainer, as he plots to do the best with his horse.

⭕ 1.55 Doncaster (1m 2f handicap, 3yo) One winning favourite; winners for top Spring yards, Charlie Appleby, Andrew Balding, Mark Johnston.

⭕ 2.30 Doncaster (St Leger 7f Novice Stakes, 3yo) Three favourites have scored in seven seasons. Charlie Appleby could run a gelded Dubawi called Strong Opinion, proved in deep ground when runner-up at Newmarket in November.

⭕ 3.05 Doncaster (6f handicap) Kevin Ryan had Aleezdancer ready first time a year ago, same rating, same ground.

He gave 9lb and a beating to Blind Beggar but concedes only an extra pound.

⭕ 3.40 Doncaster (1m 2f handicap) The return of a third 2023 winner on the card, Bucephalus; off 77, he needed to claim 7lb off Rose Dawes; now he has 84.

⭕ 4.15 Doncaster (7f handicap) Four-year-olds have won seven from nine; Richard Fahey three; no outright favourite.

⭕ 4.50 Doncaster (5f handicap) Little Muddy is a fourth winner last year to come back for more, higher in the handicap and eight-years-old now.

CASTLE UNDER ATTACK

⭕ 5.30 Southwell (today) I’m keen to take on likely warm favourite Castle In The Sand here.

He’s not a horse that I would want to take short prices about, even though he represents the powerful Andrew Balding yard who are in good form.

There are too many question marks – not least of which this being his all-weather debut. He was also a beaten favourite at Brighton last time out in a weak event where he struggled in the closing stages.

Regular readers will know I don’t rate Brighton form high (generally) so I’m even less enthused when I see a beaten favourite from the seaside track.

There are two better priced rivals of interest on Betdaq Betting Exchange .

1️⃣ Corrales looks certain to build from his Kempton debut but the reality is that in pure form terms he might not even have to improve to take this. He ran green but still finished fourth to the favourite Roberto Caro and over the same trip here might take some stopping.

2️⃣ I also don’t think the Peter Chapple-Hyam trained Blake is without a chance either – his Kempton third in a class 2 looks solid now the sights have been lowered to class 5. The only concern with him is the 155 day absence and the fact we have little current trainer form to go on.

I will back both Corrales and Blake to win 20 points in opposition to the favourite.

DON’T LET MEDICI PASS BY

⭕ 6.30 Southwell Medici Pass hacked up on her stable debut at Newcastle by a winning margin of four lengths. She gets to race off a 5lb penalty here but her future mark has shot up by 9lb so she is technically still 4lb in front of the handicapper.

That’s not a bad starting point for a filly that is clearly in good form.

She didn’t really show much in her native Ireland so if the penny really has dropped we could in reality be looking at a totally different horse and I’m keen to keep on the right side of her.

Many of her rivals tonight have a much more exposed look to them and the handicapper seems to have got them where he wants them. Medici Pass is today’s nap.

FINE AND DANDY

⭕ 7.00 Southwell A really tightly banded handicap with the 10-strong field split by just 7lb on official ratings.

Meng Tian was heading the morning market but is only 1-19 on the all-weather and has a 132 day absence to overcome.

I’ll chance Urban Dandy who is overdue another success himself. His most recent effort when a short head second to Absolute Dream over course and distance can be upgraded.

He was only beaten a short head in any case but met trouble in the run and was undoubtedly an unlucky loser.

The handicapper has been sympathetic and kept him on the same mark – so he is as close to a moral ‘winner without a penalty’ as you are likely to see!

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
