THE EDGE: The Edge previews Thursday’s IPL clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a cracker at the IPL on Thursday as Sunrisers Hyderabad host Rajasthan Royals on Betdaq Betting Exchange. It’s been an interesting week in the race for the playoffs; wins for Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants earlier in the week mean Sunrisers Hyderabad are a little on the backfoot now after their losses to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. The loss to RCB was a massive blow obviously given how poor the RCB bowling has been and the fact that they have been sitting at the bottom of the table for almost the whole tournament.
Rajasthan Royals are away from all the drama sitting in top spot. They have a comfortable lead, and to be honest at this stage it would be a surprise if they didn’t finish top of the table. Obviously the top two have a big advantage in the playoffs, but the ECB handed Rajasthan a blow this week confirming that the English players will miss the IPL playoffs to play against Pakistan as prep for the T20 World Cup in June. In fairness, the IPL does run into the World Cup with a very small gap. Rajasthan might only have one English player but with that being Jos Buttler, it’s a massive blow!
Sunrisers Hyderabad don’t have any English players to worry about, but their worry is even reaching the playoffs. They have put in back-to-back poor performances now and need to turn things around – it was always going to be tough chasing 200+ in Chennai but their batting has been poor twice now. They are under pressure!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
This IPL has been insanely high scoring, and Hyderabad has been no different. We started the tournament with a 277/3 here! That was the eighth game, and little did we know what we coming at the time. Over 200 has become the new normal almost. The other two games here saw 165/5 (chased) and 206/7 (won) scored. Hyderabad has been a reasonably high scoring venue for a few seasons now, and I would expect more of the same here. Don’t be surprised to see 200+. If I had the choice I would opt to bat first.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I feel Rajasthan Royals have been a little under-rated by the market recently. They have a top class squad, and pretty much tick every box. That’s why they are top of the table with eight wins from nine games after all! We landed a five star NAP on Rajasthan at 2.2 which was a huge price against Mumbai Indians. The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling has been a little poor but their batting has bailed them out – with their batting struggling recently I feel the 1.87 on Rajasthan is a nice value bet.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Rajasthan Royals to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at 1.87 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With batting conditions so good, at most IPL grounds it has to be said, it has paid to support the bat over the ball nine times out of ten this IPL. I don’t see that changing here either; we’ve had two 200+ scores from three games batting first. I would expect another big score batting first and I’d be keen to focus on trying to pick the right moments to support either batting side rather than the bowlers. I do feel the most movement will be when Rajasthan Royals bat; in either innings I want to take on the Hyderabad bowling.
