TASK FORCE FOR THE GUINEAS..

⭕ 3.35 Newmarket, Saturday (2,000 Guineas) ABC GUIDE

A At least two previous wins: 90%
B At least one Group success: 90%
C Rating of 113 or more: 75%
D Winner trained Aidan OBrien, Richard Hannon

ABCD CITY OF TROY Regarded by Aidan O’Brien as ‘the best two-year-old I have ever trained’. Richard Hannon should have a line to him through Haatem who was beaten six lengths or more by City of Troy on the July Course and six lengths again in the Dewhurst.

ABCD HENRY LONGFELLOW The National Stakes at The Curragh has thrown up Dawn Approach, Gleneagles, Churchill and last year the Irish 2,000 winner.

Aidan O’Brien directed City Of Troy and Henry Longfellow to swap 2yo trials, with City of Troy the one going to the Dewhurst to get the Newmarket experience.

ABCD ROSALLION The Lagardere winner by beating the subsequent Breeders Cup Juvenile star, Unquestionable. That makes him Richard Hannon’s No 1 but O’Brien sees Unquestionable as a sprinter and he’s in the market for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

ABC ALYANAABI Beaten 4.75 lengths by Rosallion in a Listed at Ascot in July but won at Newmarket on firm until runner-up at 3.5 lengths to City Of Troy on soft in the Dewhurst.

ABC IBERIAN Just behind Haatem (who beat him at Goodwood) but nine lengths off City Of Troy in the Dewhurst (see Alyanaabi).

ABD DIEGO VELAZQUEZ Frankel colt who won the Champion Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown but was beaten a good four lengths in the Futurity at Doncaster (heavy).

ABD RIVER TIBER Won the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot as part of a hat-trick but twice beaten two lengths or more in the Morny and then the Middle Park. He’s by Wootton Bassett, who has sired a Derby winner and second.

AB GHOSTWRITER Clive Cox bounced back to form with Jasour in the Commonwealth Cup Trial yesterday but, though scoring an unbeaten hat-trick, his Royal Lodge winner rates only 111.

AB HAATEM Stablemate AND workmate of Rosallion. Well behind City Of Troy on both Newmarket tracks.

A NIGHT RAIDER Beat nothing well twice at Southwell (AW) by a total of 14 lengths.

A NOTABLE SPEECH Charlie Appleby had 115-rated Derby hope Ancient Wisdom in this but relies on Notable Speech, who has raced only on AW and only this year. William Buick reckons the son of Dubawi has filled out and grown mentally.

A TASK FORCE The Frankel colt was kept to 6f last term – and won two out of three – but is related to winners at 10-12f. He is a 20-1 shot rated only 112 but could improve, stepped up in trip by his astute trainer, Ralph Beckett.

A TEN BOB TONY Won a 7f conditions stakes on the Rowley Mile course

—– INISHERIN big-field runner-up on the Rowley Mile.

WINNING IS IN WILLIE’S BLOOD

⭕ 4.15 Punchestown today Not a race for favourites; not a race for a 5yo; and none in the decade carrying 11st 12lb. But who dare prophecy Willie Mullins’ destiny?

Blood Destiny, a dynamic jumper with Grade-1 form, drops to a handicap after being favourite in every race he’s run in for Willie, out of the frame just the once in the Triumph Hurdle; otherwise he returns 1121213.

His old adversary, Spillane’s Tower, whom he beat at Navan over today’s trip of two miles, has beaten him over 2m 4f and stepped up to 3m 1f and won the Champion Novice Chase here on Tuesday. So rock-solid form at the highest level.

Paul Townend rides Blood Destiny, with his stablemate, the Red Rum Chase runner-up, Saint Roi (12st), claimed off, as is the third horse home at Aintree, Path D’Oroux.

Solness had to give the second, Path D’Oroux 12lb, when third in a Listed chase at Leopardstown in February and is also claimed off today.

Mighty Tom has been given a decent handicap mark; so has Pinkerton, Noel Meade’s little horse with a lot of heart.

Mighty Tom and Saint Roi would be rare winners over the age of eight but Jack Kennedy is booked for Mighty Tom. Another in his first handicap, he who goes well fresh and ran above himself at this meeting last year.

LADY A 12.0 BETDAQ OUTSIDER

⭕ 6.00 Punchestown (Stayers Hurdle) Lantry Lady, whose dam is a half-sister to Annie Power, is unexposed for Henry De Bromhead; the apple of his eye, and 2-2 for Rachael Blackmore.

Fourth in the Mares Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, when Buddy One was fourth in the Stayers Hurdle behind tough-as-teak Teahupoo.

Teahupoo had Home By The Lee, Buddy One, Sire Du Berlais and Asterion Collonges behind (3, 4, 5 and 6). Check latest prices on Betdaq Betting Exchange

⭕ 6.15 Doncaster Little Rose pinches a few pounds under the radar, running with a penalty but off bottomweight and due to go up by 10lb for scoring unchallenged at Beverley last week.

⭕ 6.50 Doncaster Though dropping down in grade, Fleur De Mer is raised just a pound for her big-field second on the soft at Thirsk: interference two out, hampered one out.
