DAQMAN YORK BULL’S EYE WINS AT 4-1: Daqman was on the oche for the opening day at York yesterday, scoring a win-50 bull’s-eye bet with Mill Stream (4-1 SP) and going close with a 14.5 BETDAQ win and place.

WON 4-1 MILL STREAM (win-50 at BETDAQ 6.2)
WON (3rd 11-1) w/p GREAT AMBASSADOR (BETDAQ 14.5)

IT’S DANTE DAY: Another Classic shock yesterday when the last big Oaks trial, the Musidora, went to a 22-1 outsider, Secret Satire, with the 11-8 on favourite stone last. Today Daqman checks out the final colts’ test, the Dante Stakes.

HONEY FOR TEES AT BETDAQ 21.0

⭕ 2.15 York (5f handicap) THE stats suggest a low number; so did yesterday’s sprint. Seven out of 10 winners by stall in the decade: 5, 4, 5, 4, 2, 2, 3.

As the ground eased yesterday, Equilateral, who beat Alligator Alley at York in the autumn, dropped out.

Copper Knight won this in 2019 and 2021 here with juice in the ground last July, but is 10 now and comes out of the tricky one stall.

Tees Spirit (2) started the season more than a stone lower than the same time last year and ran true on the Rowley Mile course, before a vain attempt to match strides with Group horses in the Palace House Stakes. This is a whole lot easier.

Wen Moon (3) ran acey-deucy three times in a row at York last autumn, including a neck second for Andrew Mullen from a high draw in a big field. The forecast showers would help.

Korker (gate 4), a CD winner in 2022, improved on easier ground last autumn but has a corking weight of 10st!

Mondammej (5) is having his ninth race this year, out of the handicap but now 29lb below his rating at the start of the 2023 turf season.

Good Earth (6) is below his last winning mark and claimed off. He’s had two runs back and could strike any time soon.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 11 Wen Moon, 12 Korker, 13 Copper Knight, 21 Tees Spirit, 22 Mondammej, 30 Good Earth

NAP of the day: Pawapuri is thrown in the City Bowl (2.30 Salisbury) on his hurdles rating. Richard Kingscote booked by Nicky Henderson.

IT’S THE MULRENNAN EXPRESS..

⭕ 2.45 York (1m handicap) Winning weight is invariably between 9st 1lb and 9st 5lb. Another consistency in the race is how well the market ‘knows’ the winner; the last seven SPs have all been between 9-2 and 10-1.

Point Lynas, Northern Express and Blue For You were second, third and fifth in the race (on firm ground) last year. Point Lynas is 222 over the CD and his strike rate is generally that way: in snooker they call it a ‘miss.’

Northern Express had taken the Thirsk Hunt Cup (soft) the outing before this race last year.

Paul Mulrennan has won three times at York on him and has chosen just the one ride today, though he’s ridden others on the card before.

Blue For You has won here with cut in the ground on 96 and 99 but, if we back him, we must back stablemate Mirsky.

Mirsky, four times a winner on good to soft in France, finished close up in this year’s Thirsk Hunt Cup on his first start for David O’Meara. Jockey David Nolan, who was in fine form at Chester, has no doubt been praying for rain.

BETDAQ value 9.9 Northern Express, 10.5 Blue For You, 11 Mirsky

’AL’ CAN WIN TRIAL FOR VARIAN

⭕ 3.45 York (Dante Stakes) THE stats suggest that Aidan O’Brien’s Cambridge is here to test the water. Ballydoyle has never had a Derby winner take this first.

Their three Dante stars have won the Irish St Leger (Septimus, 2006) and Irish Derby (Cape Blanco 2010).
But the Dante-Derby double has been achieved by John Gosden twice: Benny The Dip (1997) and Golden Horn (2017).

Both O’Brien and Gosden pin their hopes today on colts which have already been beaten in a trial this year.

1: AL MUSMAK was second to Rosallion at Ascot last July, beating Ancient Wisdom into third.
Stepped up again, runner-up in the Group-2 Royal Lodge, beating Capulet (third) but outrun by Ghostwriter who was fourth in the Guineas.

Roger Varian is having a good year and Al Musmak could just about stop the favourite at the value offers of the race, around 8.7 on BETDAQ.

2: ANCIENT WISDOM Charlie Appleby, who took this York trial with a subsequent Irish Derby hero, Hurricane Lane (2021), has saved up Ancient Wisdom for the Dante.

Ancient Wisdom was third at Ascot in July (7f good) to this month’s Guineas runner-up, Rosallion, but the Dubawi colt (out of a Dalakhani mare) won the Doncaster Futurity on heavy, with God’s Window just under two lengths third. See Al Musmak.

3: CAMBRIDGE: O’Brien’s Cambridge (Dubawi out of a Galileo mare) goes up in trip after finding the Craven Stakes mile too short for him.

4: ECONOMICS A flashy sort, won a big-field maiden on his reappearance, lengthening his stride in the closing stages.

5: GOD’S WINDOW (Dubawi out of a Nathaniel). ‘Ran’ last week, or rather he didn’t. He was left many lengths at the start and was always last in the Dee Stakes at Chester won by Capulet (see Al Musmak).

Caviar Heights (by Sea The Stars) was a Listed winner over 1m 2f at the Guineas meeting, ridden out.

War Rooms(by Churchill) was sixth in the Sandown Classic Trial.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
