MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s do-or-die time at the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru face off in the Eliminator on Wednesday. Both sides have had quite a remarkable journey to get here, and the two sides of the tale couldn’t be any different! Rajasthan Royals were odds on to top the table with eight wins from their opening nine games, but four losses at the most important time put them in danger and then a washout on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders meant they didn’t have the chance to get past Sunrisers Hyderabad after they had won earlier in the day. It was unfortunately – especially because we went right through the tournament without losing a game to rain until the final week and then we lost three.
However, Rajasthan had it in their own hands and blew it. Now they face the Playoffs without their star man Jos Buttler – as I noted a couple of weeks ago they really needed to get into the top two to have two chances at the Final, but here we are. While Rajasthan were winning eight of their first nine games and topping the table, RCB were sitting bottom. They looked completely gone, they lost seven of their opening eight games. Their bowling was embarrassing at times, we were questioning their management for always focusing on star batters and forgetting about the bowling line-up! Yet here we are; they have all the momentum now with six straight wins.
I’ve mentioned a few times in RCB’s last handful of games that they have been do-or-die; they literally needed to win every game so this situation isn’t new for them – they’ve been playing that way for weeks. We really do have a fascinating game here; Rajasthan are low on confidence and wondering what’s gone wrong – RCB probably feel unbeatable at the moment!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We have the first two Playoff games at Ahmadabad before moving to Chennai for Qualifier 2 and the Final. As I said in my preview of Qualifier 1 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, we’ve had a range of scores here but you’d have to lean towards a high scoring game. The first inning scores here in the group stage have been; 168/6 (won), 162/8 (chased), 199/4 (chased), 89 all out (chased), 200/3 (chased) and 231/3 (won). We can gain some knowledge from conditions on Tuesday, but we do have two weaker sides here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Rajasthan look very short on confidence at the moment, and without Jos Buttler at the top of the order their batting lacks that star power. Cricket is a funny old game – their bowling cost them their first two losses, and then the next two the batting failed. Confidence in sport can come and go so quickly. I wouldn’t be a huge fan of RCB, and indeed they are the odds on favourites here, but there’s so much in their favour coming into this game. They have all the momentum and Rajasthan look there for the taking. Given RCB are trading 1.78, I’m happy to keep stakes small. There still has to be major worries with their bowling, but Rajasthan’s batting recently would suggest RCB might get away with average bowling at times.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I have two very different feelings towards the two Playoffs at Ahmadabad. I wouldn’t be as confident of a high scoring game here; Rajasthan look short on confidence with the bat in their last two games – I wouldn’t be expecting fireworks from them without Jos Buttler. RCB have star batters and we could easily see a high score from them batting first, I would be keen to support the RCB batting when the time comes in either innings, and I feel that will give the most market movement to provide the best in-running trade.
