ROYAL ASCOT A WEEK IN ADVANCE: Today starts race-by-race Royal Ascot guides seven days in advance, Tuesday to Saturday of the meeting next week. Stats and facts will include top trainers, the draw, and Lays Logic on the favourites, with the ratings bands that have contained the winners.
TODAY’S BETS: Daqman keeps his powder dry – partly because of the action to come next week but also winners are proving hard to find this week. A 125/1 winner at Pontefract last night the latest shock result to stun punters. It wasn’t easier at Roscommon or Windsor on Monday night where there wasn’t a single winning favourite at either venue.

🎩 2.30 Royal Ascot next Tuesday (Queen Anne Stakes, 1m)
AGE: Four year olds (6 out of 7).
DRAW: Single-figure stalls 10 out of 13 but gate 11 is currently 2-3.
RATINGS: Average 116/117 until two on the 125 mark before last year only 107.
TRAINER: Aidan O’Brien has won it four times.
FAVOURITES: 6 out of 10: Baaeed (2022) and Palace Pier (2021) both odds on.

AGE: 2yo only

RATINGS: Recent winning English ratings 120, 121, 126, 117, 112. In 2022 Australia had the winner; in 2017 America won.
LAYS LOGIC (FAVOURITES): Only one winning favourite in 11 seasons.

AGE: Look beyond the young ones: ages 7, 8 and 9 are seven out of 10. Runners mixing Flat and NH have won 11 out of 13.
RATINGS: 91-98 (nine out of 13).
TRAINERS: Willie Mullins 4, Nicky Henderson and Ian Williams 2 each.
LAYS LOGIC (FAVOURITES): 2 out of 13; double-figure SPs 5-6.
🎩 5.40 Royal Ascot next Tuesday (Wolferton Stakes, 1m 2f)
AGE: 4yo have won 14 out of 21 but 5/6yo currently 5-7.
DRAW: Stalls 5, 6, 7, 8 have landed eight of the last 13 but current trend to 11 and 12 (3-5).
TRAINERS: Team Gosden (4), Roger Varian (2).
LAYS LOGIC (FAVOURITES): Just the one winning favourite (2015) in the last 14 years; last three winners were 14-1, 16-1, 20-1.
🎩 6.15 Royal Ascot next Tuesday (Copper Horse Handicap, 1m 6f) new race in 2020.
AGE: 6yo 2, 5yo 1, 4yo 1
DRAW (winner by stall) : 16, 9, 7, 7.
FAVOURITES: 2-4; in the two other years 16-1 and 33-1.
AL ABOARD!
⭕ 5.07 Salisbury today A very open fillies handicap on the Betdaq Betting Exchange market but those at the front end of the betting make limited appeal.
Quietness is up in class and also up 4lb for her narrow neck success at Windsor last time out and this looks tougher against some potential improvers.
Elladdonna and Xiomara were first and second at Nottingham last time out and it was looking a coin flip as to which one would come out on top today before the news that Elladonna is now a non runner. Xiomara has a strong chance, particularly with her trainer David Menuisier in good current form.
However, at slightly bigger odds, I like the chance of Alhattan who didn’t shape badly on her turf debut at Newmarket when sixth (beaten two lengths) to Whathappensinvegas who has won again since in better company.
There could well be plenty more to come from the George Boughey trained filly whose current handicap mark looks realistic.
BRIGHT SHINING AT DOUBLE FIGURE ODDS
⭕ 5.42 Salisbury A competitive six furlong closely banded handicap closes the card and recent winners Regal Envoy and Strike have to find more now up in the weights and don’t really make too much appeal at short odds.
Bright looks a little overpriced here. A dual winner at Wolverhampton, his return to turf at Windsor last time out was quite promising considering he was sent off at 50/1. He met some trouble in running and was only beaten two and a half lengths at the line – in a better class race than today.
With a pound bonus from the handicapper I’m thinking that even a repetition of that effort might be good enough to see him go close, before you factor in any likely improvement.
At double figure Betdaq odds it’s a low downside WIN 20 project.
I’M ON THE ROCKS!
⭕ 9.00 Wetherby I toyed with napping Transitioning in the 6.30. He made a nice winning debut at Doncaster and should be good enough but the change of ground and a fancied Karl Burke trained debutant in opposition tempered enthusiasm about him defying his penalty. At that price I can afford to let him win.
I’ll reserve the nap for Life On The Rocks to win the battle of the hat-trick seekers in the finale.
Laser Focus, Chilled Out and Life On The Rocks are all bidding for three-in-a-row. The handicapper is trying to keep up but Life On The Rocks is out again quickly after his six length romp at Ayr last week and it looks a smart move by Richard Fahey to strike again quickly under the 5lb statutory penalty.
