THE EDGE: The Edge previews the T20 World Cup clash between USA v INDIA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
USA v India
MATCH OVERVIEW:
T20 World Cup favourites India are back in action on Wednesday as they take on USA in the final game at New York. Cricket fans might breathe a sigh of relief to see the back of New York given the wicket, but it has been pretty “easy” to form a trading plan on Betdaq Betting Exchange for these games – you basically want to be on the bowling side! It will be interesting to see how USA get on here, they have made a very impressive start to the tournament. Obviously adding all the Ex-Internationals has brought a lot of experience to the side and they performed superbly well under pressure against Pakistan to win in the Super Over.
This is one of the very rare times in cricket when Pakistan fans want India to win! For Pakistan to have any chance, they need to win all their games and USA to lose here and then against Ireland. For a large part of the game on Sunday it looked like Pakistan were going to beat India – that would have been classic Pakistan – lose to USA then beat the best side in the world. However, as I said it my preview it just feels like India have every box ticked with their squad and can pull a game out of the fire from nowhere. Their batting failed on Sunday but their superb bowling dug them out of a hole. On a different day, their batting can dig them out – their middle order flopped but they will be the star one day too.
It’s easy to see why they are the tournament favourites. That being said, obviously batting conditions are very difficult in New York and that might bring the sides closer together. The USA have the likes of Ex-New Zealand batter Corey Anderson in their middle order and we saw at the weekend that 120 is a difficult chase here. A fascinating game awaits though; it will be interesting to see can USA perform better against India than Ireland did.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As I said above, batting at New York has been exceptionally difficult. This was going to be the ICC showpiece ground and it’s caused them more headaches than anything else. Scoring has been very low, and the ICC even released a statement after the India v Ireland game that they were going to try everything to improve batting conditions. As we saw over the wicket, that hasn’t really worked out – although I suppose scores have gone over 100! That’s a very low bar though, and you’d have to expect another reasonably low scoring game here. Obviously there is a gulf in class between the sides so we might see India post a decent score if they bat first, but you wouldn’t want to bet on it!
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s no surprise to see India as the red-hot favourites here. There’s a huge gulf in class between the sides after all. However, I do feel that we have had enough shock results in America that the 1.09 is a little short here. We know how difficult batting can be here, and while the Indian bowlers might be able to make light work of the USA batting line-up, I still feel that USA are worth a small bet at 10.0 or bigger just from a value point of view. I do expect a closer game than those odds suggest.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
It will be interesting to see what type of score India can manage if they bat first here. Batting has been a nightmare here, but given India have such a good batting line-up they might be able to post a decent score. That being said, you still wouldn’t want to be on either batting side here based on conditions. It’s paid to support the bowling side for most games here – it’s just about whether you want to trade out at the innings break or not. By far the best in-running strategy in New York has just been focusing on trades on the bowling side. The USA bowlers did very well against Pakistan, and while this is a level up, they have conditions to help.
