MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a huge game at the T20 World Cup on Monday on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Everyone expected this to be the game that would decide who would top the group, now Australia are staring down the barrel of being sent home after their shock loss to Afghanistan on Saturday night. Australia still sit in second due to their net run rate which is quite a lot better than Afghanistan’s, however now Australia face the best team in the world while Afghanistan play Bangladesh later. To play last is an incredible advantage for Afghanistan regardless of the outcome here – even if Australia win that would leave them on four points with India.
A win for Afghanistan would see them on four points too meaning we’d have a net run rate situation and given they play last, they would know exactly what they need. However, they’ll be hoping India do the job for them and they only need a win! Australia came into this tournament as ODI World Champions – beating India in the final in their own backyard – but their batting has flopped at times throughout this tournament and they finally paid the price on Saturday night. 148/6 wasn’t a massive target to chase, but the top order went very quickly and no one was able to support Glenn Maxwell who played a superb knock.
Australia were excellent against England at the group stage, but then England have their question marks too. All roads seem to lead to the Semi-Final for India; since the start of the tournament it has felt that they would walk to the Semi-Final and then we’ll see what happens under pressure. They have been absolutely superb throughout though, they basically tick every box and the task for Australia here is huge.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’re back at Gros Islet in St Lucia and this will be India’s first game of the World Cup here. Australia played here at the group stage; however both sides will know conditions very well from all their tours to the West Indies – even if most times they send their B sides! The first inning scores here have been; 180/5 (chased), 201/6 (won), 218/5 (won), 180/4 (chased) and 163/6 (won). England batted very poorly in the opening ten overs of the chase in the last game here – this has been a pretty high scoring venue and you’d expect that to continue.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We should have a cracking game here – two high quality sides and you wouldn’t be surprised to see the market bounce around throughout the game. It’s also not a surprise to see India as favourites – Australia might say that they have a little mental edge after winning the ODI World Cup against India in the Final, but India have definitely looked the best side in the tournament to date. As I said above, they just tick absolutely every box – their batting is full of power hitters that can knuckle down when needed to. And then, their bowling bails them out when needed. Australia’s batting has to be the worry here against a top class Indian attack – I feel that’s where the game will be won and India are worth backing at 1.81.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although England failed to chase down the 163/6 from South Africa here, you’d have to say this ground has really favoured the batting side. I feel that was down to poor batting from the England side more than anything else – less than 48 hours before that game England chased down the 180/4 from West Indies with 15 balls to spare. I do feel India will go really well here; I would expect a high scoring game but the Indian bowlers to be the difference. I’d also be very happy to support the Indian batting – if they bat first I’d expect a match winning score.
