EURO 2024: The Ultra previews Saturday’s quarter final between NETHERLANDS v TURKEY with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm We finish the Euro 2024 Quarter-Finals on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE with Netherlands v Turkey on Saturday night! There’s been plenty of chat this week about the easy side of the draw, and you have to say that Netherlands have landed a dream run through to the Final if they can get there. We could have had a quick repeat of the Group fixture between Austria and Netherlands but Turkey surprised everyone. Now Netherlands come into this game as the odds on favourites, and if they get the job done they have England or Switzerland waiting for them in the Semi-Final who meet earlier in the day. That’s an incredible easy (on paper) run to a major tournament Final!
Netherlands are trading 1.66 with Turkey 6.4 and the draw is 4.2 at the time of writing. Netherlands would have been delighted to see Turkey come through the Last 16 tie, but they have been one of the most entertaining teams at Euro 2024. It will be very interesting to see how Netherlands respond if Turkey take an early lead – they were pretty toothless in attack at the World Cup. At Euro 2024, their average xG created is only 1.35 – only marginally over their conceded figure at 1.34. However, to their credit they have been scoring goals. They’ve netted twice or more in three of their four games which is impressive – they are taking the limited chances they are creating.
As I said above, Turkey have been one of the most entertaining sides at Euro 2024. They have had Over 2.5 goals in all four of their games; they’ve created a lot and they’ve conceded a lot. They’ve actually given away one of the highest xG figures at the tournament! Austria finished the Last 16 game with an xG created over 3.0; you’d have to say Turkey were pretty lucky to get through but the goalkeeper was absolutely superb. Netherlands finished their win over Romania with an xG of over 3.0 too; their best attacking performance of the tournament. Turkey will give them chances here, but I still feel that the 1.66 is fair value on the Netherlands. It’s hard to make the case that they should be massively shorter – lower than 1.6 for example.
When we get to this stage of a major tournament we can see quite cagey games, but I actually feel these sides will gel together well for an entertaining game. The reality is Turkey don’t know how to sit back – and they just make so many mistakes at the back too. The market is expecting a reasonably open game with Over 2.5 goals trading odds on at 1.82, but I still feel there’s value in that price. Netherlands have a huge amount of attacking talent in their squad, but sometimes they can be quite cagey. Turkey will force them into an open game here in my opinion and I would be surprised if we didn’t finish the Quarter-Finals with a very entertaining game!
