HIDDEN HORSES TONIGHT
THERE are two kinds of hidden horse. The one that has shown the ability to win today’s race but has been forgotten by the punter. Don’t be surprised when he ‘bounces back’, at a price, returning to form with a drop in class or rating.
The other kind is known only to the stable, a horse of potential, perhaps given a quiet start to the season over the wrong trip, being nursed along until he’s ready to show his true colours. I hope I’ve found both kinds today.
RHETORICAL HAS POTENTIAL
⭕ 5.05 Kempton (Class-2 novice 1m 4f) Arabian Tribe and Rhetorical have the stamina in their pedigrees for this trip but both are drawn high.
We don’t know how free-going Arabian Tribe may perform after being gelded but we do know that Rhetorical stayed on after leading 6f out at Newmarket, having come from behind at Newbury.
We also know that he’s one of three William Haggas entries in the Great Voltigeur, one of them rated 108 after second in the King Edward V11 Stakes at Royal Ascot.
That one is Space Legend, one of the favourites for the Bahrain Trophy on the July Course tomorrow.
Off only 88, Rhetorical looks out of his depth in the Great Voltigeur, with most acceptors at this stage rated between 100 and 117 so he’s clearly been entered on potential. That’s the potential he’s been sent to Kempton to prove today.
In fact, it’s all a neat-looking Haggas double chance. Rhetorical in this, with Space Legend as a second Haggas bet tomorrow.
SOLUTION: TAKE BETDAQ 23.0
⭕ 5.40 Kempton (Class-4 2m handicap) Fit from hurdling this month, Solution switches back to the Flat, ready to add to his two-miler on the Kempton Polytrack last August.
Overnight favourite Moel Arthur has had five goes at winning here at Kempton, producing form figures of 23242, the last four all over today’s 2m.
Sharp Distinction has also had a string of attempts here among a sequence on AW of just 1-14 (at Lingfield).
Michael Bell has been in good form recently but Banderas’ best performances have been on the soft on turf.
Second in class 5 has been Clan Chieftain’s best since winning his maiden at Chepstow after a poor start here at Kempton. Swinging London is 0-15 on the Flat, including 0-5 on AW.
Robusto won five times for Sir Mark Prescott, three of them on man-made surfaces, but he has to give weight all round now for Eve Johnston-Houghton and Saffie Osborne.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.4 Robusto, 23 Solution
O’BRIEN FILLY IS ALL HART
⭕ 6.30 Fairyhouse (1m 6f fillies and mares Group 3) Past results strongly bias me to the three-year-olds but most recently (four in a row) not when they’re favourite and not under a top jockey.
So it is that I fancy one of the Aidan O’Brien pair Grateful or Lily Hart could upset the obvious, particularly with the ground firming up (though showers are forecast) and especially because both are lightly raced and so could reveal hidden talents.
It was a sound surface at Down Royal when Lily Hart romped away when stepped up to 1m 5f and today’s leap to Group level will not fail for lack of stamina.
Grateful has been running over shorter but is still green, having taken a long while to get fit, and likely to improve. Both are among the last daughters of Galileo.
Dancing Tango has won only once on Turf since breaking her maiden and Trevaunance has struggled in the Pattern (0-12) since scoring at Deauville almost two years back.
BETDAQ value 9 Lily Hart, 11 Grateful

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
