DAQMAN GOODWOOD DOUBLE UP: Follow Ryan Moore, implored Daqman. The result was a spectacle of great jockeyship on the third day of Goodwood, as he doubled up in hair-raising style with neck victories in the Gordon Stakes and the Nassau.

Goodwood Thursday: 21.75 points profit
WON 4-5 JAN BRUEGHEL (supernap) (pictured below, left)
WON 9-4 OPERA SINGER

Goodwood Tuesday: 39.30 points profit
WON 7-1 TAKE HEART (16.5 taken on BETDAQ) Tony Montana 3rd 17-2

SUPER SEVEN BETDAQ OUTSIDERS: Today Daqman hunts down some big-odds value bets at Goodwood on BETDAQ at 9.5, 10.5, 11.0, 12.5, 13.5 and 15.5, plus an 11.5 bull’s-eye bet on tonight’s Galway Blazers.

TAKE 15.5: THAT’S THE SPIRIT!

⭕ 1.50 Goodwood (Goodwood Handicap) Last year’s 1-2-3-5 all go again, but the ground was soft that day.

The winner, Temporize, is up 10lb but won narrowly at Newbury recently on firm. Runner-up Robert Johnson has scored only in lower grade; the third, Tronador, is eight now but has Silvestre De Sousa to help; fifth, The Grand Visir, is 10.

Kyle Of Lochlash gives us more collateral form. He was third in the Ascot Stakes, when Get Shirty was 4th and Temporize 5th.

He should again beat Get Shirty (also now eight years old) but so should Temporize, who could not get a clear run that day.

Hughie Morrison has a line to them via Vino Vitrix with, theoretically, stablemate Premiere Ligne setting him some pace.

Spirit Mixer could shake up this cocktail of stayers, 11lb lower than when runner-up to Trueshan in the 2022 Northumberland Plate.

He had to miss most of 2023 and best form since Newcastle was third here at Goodwood to Tenerife Sunshine and Vino Victrix in June, giving them 9lb and 4lb respectively. Better off with both.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.7 Kyle Of Lochalsh, 15.5 Spirit Mixer

URBAN A JOB FOR BILLY: 12.5

⭕ 3.00 Goodwood (Golden Mile) STATS: Single-figure stalls won nine years running until Johan found a passage from 18 on soft ground last year (Darkness 4th); even so, four of the next six places finished 5, 8, 2, 6 by stall.

Only one outright favourite has scored in the decade, and the last two winners have returned 20-1 and 25-1 at SP.

David O’Meara is six-handed: Orbaan (4), Blue For You (5), Darkness (8), Rhoscolyn (9), Pisanello (11), Bopedro (12)

Blue For You (5) is well drawn but there was cut in the ground when he returned to form at York; in fact, he hasn’t won anywhere else but York (22101041 there) since scoring at Leopardstown for Dermot Weld three years back.

Darkness led on the soft in this race last year and could be hard to catch on today’s sound surface and 3lb lower. Four times course winner Rhoscolyn also likes cut in the ground.

Two Tempting (7) also seems best on good to soft but Orbaan will relish the firm; he won this race in 2022 off the 87 mark he has slipped back to today, and Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle is a bonus.

Coming out of the one stall, second run since being gelded, Charlie Johnston’s Urban Sprawl could rekindle his brilliant prospects of 2023, when he won here on firm in the May and was third in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. Job jockey today is Billy Loughnane.

Holloway Boy found his path blocked more than once in the Royal Hunt Cup but that’s only served to keep him high in the ratings. He hasn’t won since breaking his maiden, always a bad sign.

BETDAQ value 10.5 Darkness, 11 Orbaan, 12.5 Urban Sprawl

GOODWOOD SUITS BIG EVS

⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (King George Stakes) The only FORTUNE COOKIE of the week at Goodwood is Big Evs. The track plays to his strengths and he is 3lb better off with Aussie sprinter Asfoora, who beat him at Ascot in the final 100 yards under Oisin Murphy.

When he won the Breeders Cup as a 2yo (pictured below), Big Evs had Starlust third, a length and a quarter back (not clear run).

Starlust has won twice at York this year, in a Listed and a handicap, where he seemed better for good-to-soft ground, which gives him his traction from slow starts.

Six-year-olds have won this three times in four seasons, and Asfoora cannot be discounted but the mare is only 3-12 so cannot be relied on to give her best on the day.

CROWN COULD BE ANYTHING

⭕ 4.10 Goodwood Hidden horse. Crown Board (BETDAQ 13.0), who ran away with his debut race on AW, is a Lope De Vega from the family of Last Tycoon and still ‘could be anything.’

To produce the gelding here is well within the compass of his trainer, Jane Chapple–Hyam; just her style, in fact.

My Prospero has won at Goodwood but on soft ground and, apart from his AW win, Cicero’s Gift has never scored on anything other than soft. Nothing would surprise in this race and a market move could be decisive.

⭕ 5.20 Goodwood New Chelsea, related on the dam’s side to Arc winner Novellist, is given such a trip for the first time in his short career, after showing enough speed to score over a mile on firm at Windsor. BETDAQ 9.5 taken.

GO TO BLAZERS, WHACKER!

⭕ 6.00 Galway (Galway Blazers) I always have a crack at this; so, almost always, does trainer Henry De Bromhead, who has won it four times in eight years from 9-2 and 11-2 to 16-1 and 22-1.

He’s placed four different jockeys in charge, including of course Rachael Blackmore, who won it on the 22-1 shot, appropriately in 2022. De Bromhead’s form in the race is 110011.

Today she partners his Whacker Clan (BETDAQ 11.5), third under an amateur rider in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham in March, 2lb higher than today. He is three times a winner after a break, twice under Rachael.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
