Trent Rockets v Welsh Fire

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred headlines the UK Sport on Betdaq Betting Exchange this weekend! After a hectic few days, we have a very busy weekend with two double headers. We kick off Saturday with Birmingham Phoenix v Southern Brave, but my focus is on Trent Rockets hosting Welsh Fire in the evening game. These two sides had very poor batting displays last time out and they’ll be hoping to quickly bounce back here. Welsh Fire were blown away by London Spirit at Lord’s as they struggled to 94/9 and that came off the back of failing to chase down 113/9 at Cardiff last Sunday. The red flags are definitely flashing in that batting order!

Trent Rockets looked to be in a great position when they held Birmingham Phoenix to 138/6 on Wednesday night but absolutely threw the game away in the final 13 balls. They needed 21 runs off 15 balls, after hitting a six they then only needed 14 runs off 13 balls – cue absolute carnage. Two wickets back-to-back, then a four followed by three more wickets in the final ten balls along with only a few singles. Talk about throwing away the game! Obviously big questions are going to be asked about the middle order. Trent Rockets are still in a good position with two wins from three games, but they should be sitting pretty with a 100% record to be fair.

Welsh Fire have really struggled in the Hundred, they have been the whipping boys really. What looked like a very promising start with a massive win over Manchester Originals has now turned into a bit of a disaster given their last two batting efforts. I’ve said this before, but there’s a huge amount of pressure on Jonny Bairstow; the middle order behind him looks quite weak.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Trent Bridge hosted a Test so they hosted a Hundred game a little later than the others. We had our first game here on Wednesday with 138/6 winning but as I said above, Trent Rockets absolutely threw the game away with it in their hands. Last season we saw scores of 133/8 (won), 142/5 (won), 181/6 (won) and 162/6 (won). We had a huge range of scores here in the Blast this summer from 57 all out to 173/5 in the completed games. From the recent games, you’d lean towards batting first but obviously Trent Rockets should have won chasing on Wednesday. I’d have an open mind on scoring here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise to see Trent Rockets as the favourites here, and I feel they still offer some value at 1.71. Welsh Fire have been all over the place with the bat recently, and while their bowling has done well – Trent Rockets also have a very impressive bowling attack. Apart from ten balls of madness on Wednesday, Trent Rockets should be sitting pretty with a 100% record and they look much stronger than Welsh Fire on paper. I feel with Welsh Fire it’s Jonny Bairstow or bust to be honest, and the 1.71 looks a very nice bet on the home side.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Trent Rockets to beat Welsh Fire at 1.71 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, you could easily make the case for there being an edge to batting first here. However, Trent Rockets had the game in their hands chasing on Wednesday night. I think we have two very solid bowling attacks here, but I feel where the market will move is the Welsh Fire batting – I’m very keen to take on their middle order and I feel that will offer the best opportunity. Once Jonny Bairstow departs, getting on Trent Rockets will be my main play. I’d also be happy to support Trent Rockets while batting if they bat first.
