Northern Superchargers v Manchester Originals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Another massive double header from the Hundred on Betdaq Betting Exchange on Sunday! The day starts with a London Derby between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles, but we also have a cracker up north as Northern Superchargers host Manchester Originals. We had the confirmation in Manchester Originals last game on Thursday night that Jos Buttler is out for the whole tournament. That is a huge blow for them, and after another loss on Thursday they sat rock bottom of the table. It sounds quite dramatic after just three games, but their tournament is as good as over – franchise cricket moves fast and if you aren’t in the playoff hunt things spiral quickly.

They face a rejuvenated Northern Superchargers lead by Freddie Flintoff – after a terrible start they have bounced back superbly to notch up two wins in a row. We landed a nice bet on them Friday night at odds against; as I said their player availability is going to get better as the tournament goes on. Ben Stokes hasn’t even come into the side yet, and they would have been delighted with the bowlers on Friday night especially Matthew Potts. After having to play his first game within hours of getting off a plane, Nicholas Pooran has been superb in the next two games. He finished not out on Friday with another fantastic 65 off 41 balls and he was easily the man of the match again.

This is an interesting situation – we have one side on the up and surely have plenty of confidence. While we have Manchester Originals with three losses from three games and without their star man. This could be one way traffic.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the third game here this season and Northern Superchargers have had mixed success. They failed to chase down 185/5 from Trent Rockets in the opening game here, with most home fans leaving early as Northern Superchargers were 71/7 in the chase which prompted plenty of negative press from the UK cricket media with Flintoff in charge and empty stands! They came roaring back though as they chased down 146/8 from Southern Brave quite easily. Generally we get good batting conditions in white ball cricket here. In the three completed games here last season we saw scores of 185/5 (won), 182/6 (won) and 158/7 (chased).

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise that Northern Superchargers come into the game as favourites given the way Manchester Originals have been playing this tournament. Their level has been much below everyone else, and they desperately need something good to happen. It’s hard to see that actually happening without Jos Buttler, and their middle order is very weak too. The 1.7 is just about big enough to back Northern Superchargers in my opinion, but it’s nothing to go crazy about with stakes wise. Two points feels the right level.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Northern Superchargers to beat Manchester Originals at 1.7 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

All the talk over the weekend was the players believing that the logo on the ball is creating more movement and swing, so that’s why scores are lower. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen, but for the time being it’s wise to take a cautious approach when considering to support a batting side. The Northern Superchargers have been doing well with the bat, so I feel the best approach here will be taking on the Manchester Originals when they come to bat whether that is the first or second innings.
