AN OPENING PAIR

⭕ 2.30 Nottingham It’s a one selection from each of the three meetings kind of day and at Nottingham I’m keen on the consistent pair Star Of James and Showlan Spirit in what looks a wide open amateur riders handicap to start the card – even more so with the defection of likely Betdaq Betting Exchange favourite Kinetic who is a non runner after his runaway success at Windsor last night.

No problems with the jockey ability on my pair – both go well for amateurs and in the case of Star Of St James Stephenie Dorsey was in the saddle last time when the partnership were successful at Redcar. The Ivan Furtado runner made all of the running that day and a 3lb hike in the weights might not prove punitive.

The handicapper has also been reasonably kind to Showlan Spirit who has been raised just 2lb for her narrow success at Wolverhampton when having the considerable assistance of Simon Walker. This 10 furlongs could be her optimum trip and if the first time visor makes a positive impact she could easily be competitive again.|

I’ll play both selections against the field for a win 10 return on Betdaq.

MIX AND MATCH

⭕ 4.15 Lingfield It’s a slightly odd card at Lingfield this afternoon with the first three races on the all-weather and the final three on the turf …. so watch your races!

To confuse matters further, Miss Dubai was a winner on the all-weather here last time out (very modest race) but now switches back to the turf!

She’s been in consistent form all season but the thought with the likely market leader is that she is better on the artificial surface and was only a very modest third at Bath behind 25/1 and 33/1 shots on her only previous turf start this season.

Foinix looks the stronger option here – he proved his current well being with a 12 length romp at Brighton last week. It was also a classified event and I am not convinced today’s race is much tougher.

GOOD EVENING GOOD MORNING

⭕ 7.00 Hamilton The first thing to note about tonight’s meeting is the going – SOFT is forecast!

That should suit the four-timer seeking Good Morning Alex who started his current winning run with an easy success at Wetherby on soft ground and has since followed with a wide margin win here at Hamilton for which he was hiked 11lb but it didn’t stop him returning to the course for another success.

Another 7lb on his back is likely to make things much harder in what looks a tougher race but it wouldn’t be the biggest shock either if there’s something left up his sleeve and he is likely make another bold bid to make all.

Ignore Arctic Mountain’s last run – his saddle slipped and he was disqualified as he lost the weight cloth. The Godolphin runner is better judged on earlier efforts and has proven form (to some extent) on the ground.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
