England v Australia 2nd ODI

MATCH OVERVIEW:

England and Australia resume their battle in the next ODI on Betdaq Betting Exchange as the sides move to Headingley on Saturday. Australia won the 1st ODI very comfortably on Thursday at Trent Bridge, and England had a slight edge batting first in good conditions too. Australia and Travis Head chased down the 315 with six overs to spare, and you’d have to wonder what England would have conceded if Australia got to bat first. In the three games so far this tour, apart from a wonderful Liam Livingstone knock to win the 2nd T20, Australia have looked at a different level to England at the moment.

Obviously England have a huge amount of talent in their squad, but they need to find another gear to beat this Australia side. Another question coming into this game is will Jofra Archer play for England – it’s been made clear by the ECB that he won’t play every ODI from the five game series as they continue to manage his workload. With England’s main bowler out and Australia’s batters in superb form; England are definitely up against it – obviously it will be fastest fingers first on the team news because you’d expect the market to move before the off once that is made public.

From an Aussie point of view, they don’t have to change much. Everything is going well for them – they are conceding runs, but batting conditions have been very good in fairness. England got a lot of starts in their middle order on Friday, but nobody went on to get a big score – that’s something they could improve on.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Headingley is usually an excellent place to bat in white ball cricket. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar game to Trent Bridge on Thursday – that being said with batting conditions so good, you’d still be tempted to bat first. The forecast is very good for Leeds on Saturday too, so batting conditions should be good. Scores wise, we actually haven’t had an ODI here since 2019 at the World Cup. South Africa were due to play in 2022, but it was rained off after 27.4 overs. South Africa were on 159/2 at the time and well set. I would keep an open mind on scoring, take the first few overs to have a look at conditions, but you would expect things to favour the batters.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We landed a nice bet on Australia in the 1st ODI, and I see no reason to change tactics here. As I said above, Australia have looked the much better side apart from the Liam Livingstone innings in the 2nd T20. Obviously England have a lot of talent in their squad so they do have a lot of match winners, but so do Australia and their batters look in exceptional form too. Australia look cracking value at 1.69 and I’m very happy to support them at those odds. The 1.69 is worth a confident bet.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Australia to beat England at 1.69 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

There has definitely been a lack of ODI cricket here in recent years, so I wouldn’t go into the game with a massive bias to batting or bowling first. As we have seen time and time again too, there’s a massive difference in scoring between domestic and International cricket in England this summer too. I would expect good batting conditions, and I’d be happy to support both sets of batters to be honest – I expect a reasonably similar game to the 1st ODI in the sense that the batters will be on top, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Australia batted first that they were able to defend a big score unlike England in the 1st ODI.
